The postgame locker room is never cheerful after a loss, but I have never seen it as grim as it was today. Most of the interviews I heard featured players who sounded miserable, trailing off their sentences and shaking their heads. The whole scene felt like some sort of bizarre sports movie directed by Darren Aronofsky. So, not fun.But there's really only one question that matters at all at this point: what can the team actually do to improve at this point?Chris Cooley: "Right now it's just ... we've just gotta keep working, gotta keep showing up. I know I'm going to; I count on my teammates to do the same." Brian Orakpo: "We're 2-4, and that's horrible, and we just gotta keep fighting.... We need to be accountable. Like I said, they're the ones that coach. Call the plays, and we gotta go out there and execute 'em, regardless of who's getting the ball and who's not getting the ball. Coach Zorn takes so much heat, and for n...

Oh, man. This Washington Redskins season. Let this be a lesson to you other teams: if you're not gonna contend for the playoffs, please have the courtesy to implode in the most hilarious manner possible. For all the drama in places like Atlanta and Minneapolis yesterday, little can top the burgeoning clusterfuck going on in the Washington locker room. First, on the field: The...

Jim Zorn to Be Fired as Redskins Coach This Week? Your Move, Daniel Snyder
Jim Zorn, the embattled coach of the Washington Redskins, was desperate to save his job today. So he pulled QB Jason Campbell after an ineffective first half, and inserted 37-year-old Todd Collins. It made no difference. For the third time in four weeks, the Redskins helped an NFL cellar-dweller get its first win of the [...]
Talking Chris Cooley With Rachel Nichols
On Friday, I mentioned that the E:60 piece on Chris Cooley -- which he talked about on his blog when it was filmed in July -- would be airing tonight (7:00 eastern, sports fans!). And roughly since I posted that, I've been trying to get in touch with with ESPN's Rachel Nichols to ask her about working with Cooley. We tried to set something up for the weekend, but things got hectic...
The Beginning of the End For Jim Zorn?
When the Washington Redskins hired an offensive consultant (Sherman Lewis) a couple weeks ago without letting head coach Jim Zorn know about it, it clearly marked the beginning of the end for coach Zorn’s days in D.C. After today’s embarrassing 14-6 loss to the previously winless Kansas City Chiefs, coach Zorn was “relieved” of his offensive play calling duties. I guess 265...
