Rodney Harrison: I Don't Know Who Anthony Smith Is

"I don't even know who the guy is, but obviously he has to be a young guy to come out and say something like that. We have a great deal of respect for Pittsburgh and everything they've done and everything they stand for. When I was a young guy, I never came off talking about things I really didn't know about -- especially a young guy that's been in the league probably a year or two."

Either do I....

I know who Rodney Harrison is. He's twice been voted, by his peers, as the dirtiest player in the NFL (ask the Rams, they'll tell you). He's also been linked to HGH factories that fronted as wellness clinics. First he lied, then he flat out refused to comment once his "I took it because I was injured" excuse was flat-out laughable.

I like the Pats. They are a great franchise. I think I'm one of the few people who genuinely like Bill Belichick and enjoy his press conferences, not because he's a Patriot, but because he truly is a remarkable coach. But Harrison is overrated (and has been for years), and is only tolerated in New England because he plays there. If he were a Steeler or Colt, he'd be hated, which is fine. I'm a Cowboys fan, but I will never sit here and tell you what a wonderful human being Terrell Owens is. He isn't, and I only tolerate him because he has a star on his helmet. Once he doesn't, he can fall off the face of the earth, for all I care.

What makes me laugh are Pats fans, grown men, mind you, who will drop down on their knees and verbally fellate these character-bankrupt individuals like Randy Moss and Rodney Harrison because of the color of their uniform. Harrison is cheap and Moss is a punk, regardless of what colors they wear. Just be honest and admit that, as Pats fans, you tolerate these guys so long as they produce. I respect that, as I tolerate these types of people, too (the Cowboys have historically had more of these types than most, except maybe the Raiders).

As for this Anthony Smith guy, I don't know who he is either, but I think we'll all know him by around 7:30 Sunday night. He'll be the guy on the 9-4 team.

As always, the pleasure was all yours.

Rodney Harrison is an excellent player..EXAMPLES: Harrison is the NFL's all-time leader in sacks by a defensive back, having recorded 28.5 sacks in his 13 seasons heading into 2007.
Harrison is the only player in NFL history to record at least 25 sacks and at least 30 interceptions in his career. Harrison enters the 2007 season with 28.5 sacks and 32 interceptions in his regular-season career.
That is NOT because of the front line!!! There are a lot of dirty players..and I bet you got that quote off my yard!! copy cat!!! He has improved since his bad boy days..because he had to take a referee training class. He now has greatly improved in that respect.. I love you Rodney!

Rodney Harrison is overrated! he was never good until he got to NE. ANd in NE its because of the front line that makes him good.

Dude your retarted he was better in SD than he is in NE. Harrison is the NFL's all-time leader in sacks by a db with 28.5 heading into this season. And Harrison is the only player in NFL history to record at least 25 sacks and at least 30 interceptions in his career.

LACK OF KNOWLEDGE THERE buddy

^^WTF football games were you watchin?.....RH has been a beast in NE and when he was in SD.......dude isa monster.......why the hate...??....hes a good player....and a leader on that D

I don't hate him. That would imply that I have feelings for him one way or another. I don't. Just my observations. It's all good.

Rodney is a beast and a leader on that team ...and he's prone to cheap shots, ...and he's an HGH'er. Pats fans accept the package as imperfect. Or at least we should, I can't speak for everyone.

This is another story for another day, but I wonder why there's more tollerance for roiders in football (see Merriman) than in baseball (Bonds) - maybe because it is more expected?

I've thought about that question. I think it's the records. Baseball is an individual sport with individual records. Football is the ultimate "team" sport, where if, lets say, a safety is doing HGH, it doesn't have the effect on the NFL record book that the clean-up hitter for the San Francisco Giants (to name a team) has on his sports record book.

In other words, The Patriots aren't undefeated because a few guys might be juicing. They're undefeated because they're a great, talented team with a great coaching staff. But Bonds, although his teams never really did much, broke an important individual record with the help of illegal performance-enhancing drugs. It think that's the difference.

He took HGH because of his bad knee injuries it wasnt to get a competitive advantage. Im not sayin that it was alright to take it but it is understandable.

thats what he claims but thats everybodys excuse when the get caught

See, this is what I mean. He's a "steroid abuser" ONLY if he played somewhere else. It's easier to accept if he plays here. No excuses. He took illegal drugs.

It is not understandable. Even if he is telling the truth i dont thin he is he still gained a competive advantage. The pats dont even need him they won a super bowl with out him. Milloy was and is better player than HGH Harrison.

3 cadaver ligaments son...yeah, he's not tough(hmmm)...this HGH...it is not a steroid...I don't know where that comes from...half the league baby, half the league...The Cowboys don't look juiced though...sigh

Cowboys havent been suspended for hgh or roids. Never said he wasnt tough dont really care. im not your son.

c'mon dude..."son" as slang...let's just keep having harmless jabs...have fun here...credit to Dallas today...they did what a champion has to to win by 1 or 30...thet are a great tough team...and young...props

The reason you take it is to give you an advantage, recovery from injury faster or to prevent further damage are both competitive advantages. Either reason allows you to play again faster and/or to play longer, one definition of competitive advantage. Without them would Harrison be playing at the level he does? Hell No. Sorry PinkPanther, I know you love the guy but his explanation is pure bs.

BTW, I have no beef with you over this Mobster, I have heard this "no competitive advantage" crap from so many brainless sock puppets that I could scream, it's just not true, if it didn't help them they wouldn't take it.

thats ok. NP I am biased I admit. ;)

"He took HGH because of his bad knee injuries it wasnt to get a competitive advantage."

Let's say, for a second, that was true (it isn't, but I'll humor you). Let's go on to say that you and I played for different NFL teams and were out with the same injury at the same time. I rehab my injury the correct, lawful way and I'm out just over six months. You cheat, using HGH to accelerate your rehabilitation, and are back in the league in under three months.

Congratulations, you have just gained a competitive advantage. Unfortunately, I am well aware of what both old-school steroids like D-Bol and Anavar do for strength, and the miracle powers of some types of HGH as well. One of the things both these things do is, not only increase muscle mass and reduce body fat (which some do), but HGH in particular makes RECOVERY TIME between intense workouts quicker, allowing for a tougher, more intense training regimen, and a quicker return from injury.

You can paint the pig any color you want, but it's still going to be a pig. I would be a hypocrite if I judged Harrison for his actions, but don't justify it because he has a locker in Foxboro, either. I'm not a professional athlete looking for a competitive advantage over opposing players (or players on my own team wanting my job); Rodney Harrison is.
