Lombardi on Football:

This is an injury will fly under the radar for most people, but it will affect the team greatly. The Steelers lost their punter Daniel Sepulveda yesterday and now begin the difficult job of finding a replacement. Sepulveda was also their holder for field goals and extra points and had a banner season last year.
I just love Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin's reaction:
"We're paid to be light on our feet and react in this business, and that's what we'll do. The teams that are successful, the teams that rise in the end, are the teams that are capable of dealing with distractions and things such as this."
If you are a personnel man in the NFL, you love a head coach that has this kind of perspective.
In their search for a kicker, the Steelers will be scouting every preseason game and watching the pre-game warm-ups with great interest. So, if you're a punter with no chance to make the team you're currently punting for, know that EVERY kick you have once you take the field will be monitored.

Roethlisberger Injures Groin. Getting Treatment in Hawaii
Ben Roethlisberger completed seven-of-seven straight passes in camp yesterday, but then yanked his groin after getting tangled in Troy Polamalu's hair. The team trainer said it's "not bad" and that Ben is currently scheduled to receive treatment from some random Hawaiian hot chick.
PITTSBURGH FINDS ANOTHER RUSHER
I loved Lamar Woodley coming out of Michigan two years ago. He had the unique ability to rush and great burst and balance. I expect big things from him this year. He had two sacks in the playoff game last year and based on Kevin Greene's assessment he might be in store for even bigger and better things in 2008.From the Pittsburgh Tribune Review"Only two players in NFL history...
Justin Hartwig vs Sean Mahan = No Contest
There is no training camp battle between Justin Hartwig and Sean Mahan. There can't be.
Let's try an experiment real quick……We're going to look at how NFL DTs and NTs performed vs the Steelers (and Sean Mahan) this past season and then we're going to look at how these DTs and NTs performed in their very next games. Did Sean Mahan struggle because he ran into...
Ben Back at Practice
Ben Roethlisberger was under center for most of the Steelers' afternoon practice Monday for the first time since suffering a groin injury on Friday. Roethlisberger is still being listed as day-to-day by the team, and head coach Mike Tomlin has still not made an announcement about how much playing time, if any, the star quaterback [...]

Casey Hampton Still Sidelined
Pittsburgh Steelers DT Casey Hampton remained on the sidelines Monday because HC Mike Tomlin still isn't happy with Hampton's conditioning. Hampton has been doing conditioning drills by himself on an adjacent field during team practices. "Just a little conditioning, a little running around, (to) get my legs right," Hampton said. "I don't think it's...
DS MOVING TO LB
Speaking of DS, here is an article that talks about Tank Williams moving to linebacker. And this is going to be the trend around the NFL in coming years. Big defensive safeties are a liability in coverage and the term "box safety" no longer applies. If your favorite team has safeties that cannot defend the pass and are limited in coverage -- in terms of playing in the deep...
Fantasy Spotlight Willie Parker
Willie Parker led the league in rushing after the first 15 games of the regular season in 2007. He racked up 1,316 yards on 321 carries. I wouldn't expect him to get as many carries this season, look for about 250-275.
