As the Patriots prepare for their preseason game tomorrow night versus the Tennessee Titans, Patriot Nation is still not sure about what will happen with cornerback Asante Samuel's holdout. The silence leaves Patriot Nation to wonder if Samuel and the Pats are working towards an agreement and Samuel will be good to go before the season starts, or as Samuel indicated in earlier media interviews, Samuel will actually sit out until week 10. I am frustrated as much as any fan and patience is always needed with Bill Belichick at this time of the season. In the meantime, Patriot Nation has the opportunity to see the current cornerbacks on the roster compete during the preseason. Ellis Hobbs and Randall Gay seem to be the starting tandem at right and left corner. Tory James, and rookies Mike Richardson and Brandon Meriweather seem to be getting the calls to rotate after the first team is done.

Raiders Russell contines to impress

I've covered hundreds of NFL games from press boxes throughout the nation. This time I'm coming to you from my living room with some thoughts about the Raiders' 17-16 exhibition road loss Friday night against the Tennessee Titans. Blogging, what a concept. I could get used to this. The more I watch Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the more I like him. This guy is more than just...

JOEY GALLOWAY TO THE STEELERS?

Getcha popcorn ready, because 37-year-old WR Joey Galloway is in town today to visit the Steelers, the PG's Gerry Dulac reports. Galloway has also visited with Buffalo and New England, who is apparently trying to sign every veteran free agent in the entire league. Galloway would be considered for the thid receiver spot recently vacated by Nate Washington, who struck it rich with...

MoSneaky - Chris Henry(TEN)

Chris Henry (RB) - Tennessee Titans Henry was very inconsistent in college. His powerful size/speed combination was on display at the NFL Scouting Combine, with 4.4 forty time at 233 pounds. That showing propelled him from a late round flier to a first day pick. He is now in the position to be a star...

The Case for drafting DT Ron Brace

Defensive tackle may be a position to watch as the Tennessee Titans prepare for next month's draft. As a result of Big Albert Haynesworth's departure, selecting a defensive tackle in the first couple of rounds of the draft could easily become a reality. With all due respect to Kevin Vickerson, the Titans could use another space-eating DT to help replace Fat Albert's...

Browns-Titans Wild Card Tiebreaker, Elaborated

I thought the Tennessee Titans were basically on the cusp of playoff elimination a couple of weeks ago. But they hung around, and suddenly with one week left they’re in control of the sixth playoff spot. But wait! All Cleveland had to do was win against the Bengals to make the playoffs or witne...

Cincinnati Bengals 19, Cleveland Browns 14

The Cleveland Browns playoff hopes are now in the hands of the Tennessee Titans after losing a game they should have won.  Derek Anderson had a bad game at the wrong time of the season for the Browns.  Anderson completed 29 of 48 passes for 251 yards with 2 TD passes and 4 very costly [...]

Coaching Search "News" & Notes

Once again Brian Dohn has some 'news' on the coaching search from his "sources":As UCLA's coaching search enters its second week, Boise State's Chris Petersen, Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow and former California and NFL coach Steve Mariucci remain targets as Karl Dorrell's successo...

Making the Correct Decision (Moss or Wayne)

This is one match up that should create somewhat of a stir in your upcoming fantasy draft. There is no question that Reggie Wayne...However, I do believe that Moss...

2008 an eerie mirror to past years for the Oakland Raiders, which way will they go?

My partner in crime here at Thoughts from the Dark Side, Rob recently went on record as predicting playoffs for the Oakland Raiders. I admire his optimism, but don't fully share it. There are eerie parallels to two recent pivotal years in the history of the Oakland Raiders 1999 and 2005. 1999 served as a launching pad for Jon Gruden's Raiders to go on a run that ultimately...

Joey Galloway would be an excellent fit with the Steelers

14-year veteran wide receiver Joey Galloway visited with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday, their first free agent visit this offseason. Galloway could potentially replace Nate Washington as the Stillers' third receiver after Washington left for Tennessee. (How did that one get past my radar?) ...

Colts RB Joseph Addai Ruled Out Vs Titans

Joseph Addai will miss his second straight start when the Indianapolis Colts meet the Tennessee Titans Monday night in Nashville. The veteran running back has been ruled out of the critical AFC South showdown with a hamstring injury. He suffered the injury Oct. 12 against Baltimore and did not play in last Sunday's loss at Green Bay.

Peyton Manning's Playing Time

Sports Illustrated's Peter King just talked with Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy over the phone regarding how much playing time Peyton Manning will receive next week against the Tennessee Titans. According to Dungy, "Manning will play no more than a half." That means that Manning could see a...

Alge Crumpler: Headed to the Titans?

A report in Wednesday's Tennessean newspaper claims the Tennessee Titans are interested in former Atlanta Falcons tight end Alge Crumpler. Crumpler had 42 receptions and five touchdowns last season, but hauled in eight scores in 2006. Crumpler's woes mimicked those of the entire offense, who strug...

Steelers Have a Sit Down with Veteran WR Joey Galloway

The Steelers lost WR Nate Washington in free agency to the Titans last week, but may actually fill that void with that of long-time WR Joey Galloway. The wide out was in Pittsburgh on Monday talking to the team, and the 14-year-vet could actually fill the void left when Washington signed a 6-year, [...]

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair has told the organization that he plans to retire. The former Tennessee Titans star informed coach John Harbaugh and G.M. Ozzie Newsom of his decision Wednesday night, reports Adam Schefter of NFL Network. McNair was drafted by the then-Houston Oilers in 1...
