Redskins Insider:
Pro Bowl left tackle Chris Samuels, sidelined indefinitely because of a neck injury, traveled to California today to meet with a specialist, Coach Jim Zorn said. "We wanted to make sure that the doctor who was reading the reports actually could visually see him," Zorn said. "We sent him out there just to do all the due diligence, so we could make, and he could make, an intelligent decision about how long, what if, all the what ifs and things like that." Samuels in high school was diagnosed with stenosis, a narrowing of the spine. His neck injury occurred on the Redskins' first series in a 20-17 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 11. Although the team has not ruled out Samuels returning to the lineup, a league source said the 10-year veteran is not expected to play again this season and is strongly considering retirement. "He should not

Talking Chris Cooley With Rachel Nichols
On Friday, I mentioned that the E:60 piece on Chris Cooley -- which he talked about on his blog when it was filmed in July -- would be airing tonight (7:00 eastern, sports fans!). And roughly since I posted that, I've been trying to get in touch with with ESPN's Rachel Nichols to ask her about working with Cooley. We tried to set something up for the weekend, but things got hectic...
Locker Room is Skins’ Last Refuge
The buzz around the Washington Redskins is just plain ugly. Frankly, it’s a bit out of control. I’ve thought back over several decades of Redskins’ negative headline-grabbing events: Jurgensen benched for Kilmer, John Riggins quits football prematurely, Jay Schroeder hurts his neck by bashing his head into the end zone wall at Giants’ [...]
The Cooley Zone On E:60
In case you missed it (despite my 75,000 word interview with Rachel Nichols on the subject), here's the E:60 piece on Chris Cooley from last night. I thought it was really well done, as was the USFL 30 For 30 that followed. Good night for ESPN.The Cooley Zone On E:60 originally appeared on Redskins Blog on Wed, 21 Oct 2009 13:15:00 EST. Sherm Smith Discusses The Chain Of Playcalling
After all the noise and commotion and drama of this week is over -- all the arguments and radio shows and old players coming out of the woodwork -- the Redskins are actually going to have to play a football game in which someone new will be calling the plays. The chain of playcalling sounds simple enough on paper: consultant Sherm Lewis will be up in the coaches' booth. From there...
Frank Herzog says Skins are "insulting"
(1996 photo by Lawrence Jackson via AP) I know you've had enough of this stuff. Can't stop just now. Sorry. You can boycott the bog for a few more days if you must. The great names are just streaming out of the past to express dismay about the Redskins, and Frank Herzog joined that train this week. Herzog hosted an hour-long town-hall discussion with John Riggins on WTOP...
Jim Zorn to coach from stadium parking lots
Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn will coach from the parking lots of NFL stadiums for the remainder of the season. The decision is the latest passive-aggressive move by Daniel Snyder to force Zorn to resign. After taking away Zorn's...
Is Jones the answer at LT?
Is Levi Jones the answer for the Washington Redskins troubled left tackle spot?
He certainly wants to be.
“It’s a golden opportunity,” Jones said. “Hopefully, I can be a part of the turnaround and get this thing going.”
It appears certain the Chris Samuels will miss the rest of the season and there are reports that he has [...]
Marcus Mason says Skins are Yankees of NFL
Forever prospect Marcus Mason, cut for the third time by the Redskins, went on The Junkies Wednesday morning to discuss his former team. He was clearly unhappy to be out of a job, but while he was honest about his experience, he had lots of good things to say about the locker room. For example, he never caved from the party line that the Redskins have way too much talent to be a...
Zorn: Campbell will be Redskins' starting QB vs. Eagles
Washington Redskins coach Jim Zorn confirmed Tuesday that Jason Campbell will remain his starting quarterback, one day after a league source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora about the decision.
Washington Redskins : An Eye Towards The Future
There has been seemingly non-stop talk about how dire the Redskins current situation is. To be honest, I have thrown fuel on that fire as well. Sitting back and watching my team get out-coached and out-played is something that doesn't sit well with me..Read the full article on Bleacher Report...

An Old Pair of Levi's
Injuries and dissatisfactionSo the Redskins big move to address the deteriorating offensive line was to sign former Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Levi Jones, Levi was cut in May of this year and took the cap hit. Levi is a former first round pick and a seven year veteran, he was selected number ten overall in the 2002 draft and took the starting left tackle spot immediately for...
Jason Campbell will start on Sunday
Campbell will no doubt be on a short leash, and does not have much upside against an Eagles defense that will repeatedly blitz the Skins ravaged offensive line. If you are forced to start him, keep your expectations very, very low.
Daniel Snyder Blew His Chances With Mike Shanahan Weeks Ago
When the going gets tough for the Washington Redskins, Daniel Snyder wants to fire somebody, especially coach Jim Zorn who is 20 games in to the job. There's something familiar about that...Read the full article on Bleacher Report...
