Small town, big-time arm

The Ravens' No. 1 pick might have a rare arm, the kind that can heave a football 80 yards or zing it on a flat trajectory from pocket to sideline. He might be the most-talked-about person in Baltimore this week. But one thing the small-town New Jersey kid is not is a born celebrity.

Flacco comes off as a dispassionate guy, one who almost has to drag words from his mouth. He's so nonchalant that his high school coach used to wonder whether he was paying attention at practice. He has never owned a car. A plate of his mother's lasagna and a game on television equal a perfect evening.

Flacco's younger brothers can't believe their friends regard him as a big deal.

**side note** i like this guy alot, have heard nothing but good things about him, do i think he'll start, no~i can't say that i honestly see him being tossed right into the fire. some might disagree, some might not~but he's a good down to earth solid person, so check it out, it's a pretty long read & has lots of pics etc...with the article.

No social butterfly, Ravens top draft pick Joe Flacco (right) said he prefers to watch football games with family members including his mother, Karen, and his father, Steve. (Sun photo by Lloyd Fox / April 29, 2008)...

I thought the Falcons would have been better suited if they had drafted Glen Dorsey and jumped back up to take Joe Flacco. Only time will tell. But the dude has a GUN for an arm. A little less mobile than what you would like, but definitely tall and rangy. I'm excited to see him play.

u mean the ravens lol!!!
YES i like Flacco, and i got thumbed down somewhere-can't remember where, for saying it too...but i don't see him starting either, not at 1st!!!
