Well, those last 10 minutes were some kind of insane, weren?t they? In a game that went from snoozefest to slugfest down the wire, the Steelers were the last team standing, winning 27-23 after a last-minute touchdown grab by Santonio Holmes that will undoubtedly rank among the best plays in ...

the game was over at that point, hell i would say it was over after harrison had that epic pick6. those redzone turnovers are SO hard to overcome. football is a game of who makes the least amount of mistakes and that was the steelers (not only in the SB but the whole season).

the steelers needed all sorts of help from the zebras, much like against seattle in 06'

Why no replay on the Warner fumble?
    • DaHibachi
Its the super bowl, they got to review it

The reviews they did have were BS anyway. On the first drive when Ben took it in for the touchdown, look at his knee. There is still space between his knee and the ground therefore it was a TD and yet they overturned the call.
When Warner got sacked and fumbled the ball, they reviewed it. His arm was moving forward because the defender was tackling him and caused his arm to move. The ball then hit the line-mans back, that's intentional grounding., but they overturned it calling it an incomplete pass. If they wanted to ignore the fumble they should have at least called the intentional grounding penalty.

Ben was down, the cardinals outplayed the steelers in this game and should have won, pansy personal foul penalties for roughing the quarterback, what the hell? but james "i can't wipe my butt" harrison can punch a player in the face 10 times and nothing happens to him but 15 yards, oh yeah, and santonio holmes used a prop, wow, what else is new, the refs not throwing a flag on shittsburgh, bs game, the cardinals are superbowl champs.

You're right about that Harrison play. He should have not only been ejected from the game, but ejected from the team as well. Had I been the coach, I would have told him right then and there, go pack your bags, you're done with the Steelers.
But......watching the play in slo-mo Ben's knee was NOT down.

excellent point...I'm glad someone else agrees with me...enough of this crap abou thow it happened in the heat of the moment...Harrison behaved like a classless chump and doesn't deserve the title or accolades..

Any play that's in dispute as was Warner's fumble, and especially a play that's that important, they have to AT LEAST take a look at it. Yes, it looked like a fumble, but it's inexcusable that the play wasn't reviewed. The replay official (a Steelers' fan?) has to signal down to the refs on the field. I wouldn't be surprised if he just worked his last game as a replay official.

Poorly officiated, favored the steelers like every playoff game was this year, with the economy the nfl had money on this game and helped them out, why are their so many pittsburgh fans, and why does no one actually live there, but support the team....confusion?
  • htkrocks
There were too many penalties.....There were plenty times I thought they could've just let the players play......Other than that it was a great game. Both teams left it on the field which is all you can ask for in a Super Bowl.

Even though they didn't review the fumble on the last play, the NFL has said that replay officials in the booth confirmed that it was a fumble. Looked like a fumble to me.
  • michele
i was upset that they didnt review the fumble. but it was a really good game i thought arizona had them when larry fitzgerald made that touchdown. i still wish arizona won, but the steelers won so congrats to them
  • Steeler Fan here... no bones about ! But I am curious...
Has the NFL come out with an official statement regarding this play ?
ps... I'm originally from St Louis ... Rooting for the Cards not possible.
Would be like loving your parents after they left you on a doorstep
at the age when you're old enough to know what's going on.
    GO STEELERS !
  • What are NFL referees coming to? This whole season has been full of bogus calls (many of the most controversial giving wins to the Steelers). I don't mind that the Steelers won, but you would think in the superbowl the referees wouldn't be so unbelievably biased.

I hope the NFL does something about this. This season has made referees look like jokes. Let the boys play some damn ball. They aren't playing women's lacrosse. Let's go.

This whole season has been full of terrible calls!! But there were terrible calls on both teams in this game, I didnt see any bias. What did happen was Cardinals shooting themselves in the foot over and over again, i.e. running into the place holder (even though they still held the Steelers to 3 points). The Cardinals made more mistakes at key points in the game and the Steelers made great plays at key points. Steelers deserve this win without a doubt!
  • dahibachi, you think the steelers got all kinds of help from the refs???? They could have called holding on every single play I saw on either of the of the offensive linemen on the outside for the cardinals even on the final play when woodley knocks the ball out the dude was holding him all the way. Woodley was way too much for them and they held him all guy and I dont mean just held I mean painfully obviously arm bar under the chin held. There were awful penalties called on both sides of the ball. As for Harrison, he was blocking on a punt his JOB is to keep that man on the ground and from getting to the ball carrier. If the whistle doesnt blow he has every right to block his opponent and if the opposition falls down why would you ever give up that advantage. 6 year olds are taught to play until the whistle, so I would assume it to be acceptable for a professional doing his JOB to do the same. Did he hit him in the face, YES, was it a punch, ABSOLUTELY NOT, it was a push that happened to hit him in the face, WHAT KIND OF FOOL PUNCHES A MAN WEARING A HELMET MADE OF HARD PLASTIC AND METAL? Seriously.
  • oh and PS.....the football is not a prop

wow, way to be a sore loser arizona, it was a forced fumble go suck it, Fitz be the man tho, philly just accepted the loss but no warner is going to cry over being cheated out of another one, here's a thought: YOUR TEAM LOST AND YOU HAD THE BEST RECEIVER IN THE LEAGUE AND HE PLAYED AWESOME BUT YOU COULDNT GET IT TO HIM IN THE FIRST HALF YES I KNOW HE WAS TRIPLED TEAMED BUT THAT DOESNT SLOW FITZ DOWN SHEESH
  • lsutigerfan19
I really don't think it was a fumble and the NFL head official person (Mike something) said it was a fumble, but I still find it odd that they didn't review it. They missed Holmes' "celebration" in the end zone too..oh well
  • samikinnz
watch the replay of the first "fumble" by warner that was overturned and called as incomplete, then watch the replay of the second fumble and the two "fumbles" are obviously different. he didn't throw it the second time...it was a fumble.

i don't understand the football fans that claim the refs were biased...the cardinals almost won the game...had it not been for the fact that there was like 2:30 left when the steelers got the ball, they probably would have won but their defense didn't step up and ben was able to connect to holmes to get us down the field for the touchdown. if the refs were biased why didn't they ignore the holding call in the endzone that gave the cardinals a safety? i think the game was honest, but that is my own opinion of course.

even though i'm a steelers fan i think the cardinals were awesome in the game and deserved to be there. but when it comes down to the wire it's about time management and defense. the steelers made the plays they needed to win and that's that!

IMO it was an incomplete pass and should have at least been further reviewed. I'm sure they reviewed it to some extent upstairs, but if for nothing else you have to at least show that you "tried." Kinda tarnishes one of the greatest games I've ever watched, but as much as I hate to admit it, the better team won. This was not the same as SB XL where the refs gave the game to Pittsburgh...they earned this one.
