Steve Smith calls out Dwayne Jarrett; again

Steve Smith has never been accused of speaking in riddles, and when he's asked a question he answers it honestly. Smith was asked if Jarrett was due for a coming-out party after his disappointing rookie season was followed by an offseason charge of driving while impaired. Said Smith; "You know, the party session is actually over. This is the NFL, you make plays. You're here to play football. You do the party scene at your own discretion, but on Sundays, we're here to play football. If you can't play football, you won't be playing with the Carolina Panthers or any NFL team. So, this isn't a poke at anybody. That's just the way it is. You know, you produce, you're in. You don't produce, you're out."

Jarrett had a typical rookie season, he did almost nothing. He has to produce this season or he will be just another overhyped USC skill player.

"A lot of people look at (his) age, but I think he's like fine wine," Smith said.

OUCH!!!!! good article cowboy!!

I like Smith... A lot of the USC skill players look amazing out in the Trojan uni's, but the case is they are getting blocks usually that are from 3 of the 5 linemen are going to be playing in the league. Especially with Reggie and company they had 4 guys on there o line that were going pro when they left...

jarrett had a disappointing rookie season with 4 different qb's in the rotation....if he was on a team with a good passing attack a consistent one..he could workout and eventually develop into a good posession receiver

Most rookie WRs do nothing in the NFL even when they have the same QB. But I think Smith is talking about Jarrett's work ethic and his commitment, a pretty common complaint about USC skill players.

You're right about rookie WRs not doing very much, which is why it surprises me that so many Eagles fans want a wideout with the #1 pick (19 overall). Wide receivers usually take a season or two to develop.

If at all. Remember, Eagles fans are passionate about their team and they want a player who can make them winners and they think it's a WR who can do it. They forget that it was the O-line that let them down last year, with a line WRs are useless.

I hear Reggie has an amazing workout watch out Reggie might be MVP this year.

Give the guy time. The DUI is not a good sign, but WR usually take at least two years - look at good ol' Calvin Johnson.

Name another overhyped Trojan?
