Team Players

A team is Individual players working TOGETHER to win. Let's pick people who will make good role models for our children, like Brian Dawkins, Donnovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, and many others already on this TEAM. Remember the old adage there is no I in team, and any player that does not understand that concept is not going to help this team.

what are the colts without peyton manning? the cardinals.

indeed you are right - no 2 ways about it. seems to me i've started a new phase on the yard pages, instead of just rumors,& inuendo about the next big WR, we are back to what it's all about & that's the TEAM!!!!!!!!

What are the colts without Peyton? IDK But McNabb in there expect 3 more superbowls then. They are marvin, reggie, joseph and dallas tats who

f*ck role models!! WE NEED A SUPERBOWL

And a WR would improve our chances by a lot

good blog, very well written thank you! i agree 100%

Hilarious blog... you mention we want to be like New England.... you know... the team that signed Randy Moss over the offseason... Randy Moss, who has caused much more trouble than Chad Johnson, who you claim the Eagles need to stay away from. Try to be a little more consistant in your comments.

Apparantly cheating by video taping the opposing team is also a quality you would like your children to learn?

Then you mention drafting a good WR, and the one name that everyone mentions is James Hardy... the guy who had a kid at the age of 19, and who got arrested and suspended last year for beating his wife and son, oh goodie! Even more great qualities I look for in a role model.

Once again, football isn't all about role models. If your kids need to look farther than their father for a good role model, then you obviously aren't doing a very good job parenting, and if a certain person's actions bother you, you have the power to turn off the tv, or block the internet, and prevent that person's ideas from reaching your children. You must understand that the Eagles primary motivation in drafting players cannot be finding a good role model... they would never win.

The truth of the matter is that if you let your kids watch tv, they will be exposed to bad role models whether they play for the Eagles or not, and I know that in an ideal world, all good players would be positive role models, but that just isn't the case.

And as for your suggestion that only positive role model's win superbowls, Plaxico Burress who talks trash and has been in trouble w/ the law won last year with the Giants, as did Shockey who is a real negative influence, and Strahan, one of the biggest trash talker in the game won it last year too.

Chad Johnson is a team player btw, he is agitated by the fact that his teammates like Carson Palmer seem to care more about $$ than winning, and also the fact that the Bengals front office has done nothing to improve the team. He isn't asking for more money, he is asking to be traded to a team where he has a chance to win a superbowl, so your commentary about not signing him is pointless as-well. He is a team player, who wants to win a super bowl, nothing more, nothing less. Do you want to teach your children that if they are unhappy with a certain job/career choice, then they keep doing that job for years and years and be miserable? Because that is essentially what you are incinuating with your commentary about Chad Johnson.

By saying we need to be like the Patriots I am not condoning the way they have done what they have done but mearly saying that we need to consistantly go to the playoffs and the superbowl. A one time shot at the superbowl doesn't satisfy. When it's over and they don't return the next year how many of us would be satisfied with that? Nobody. As for Randy Moss he seems to have learned his lesson, but I don't think the Eagles should take him either. I haven't mentioned Hardy either the player I suggested is Limas Sweed. Did you read the whole blog?
I agree that childrens first and most important role models should be their parents, but I don't know anyone whose only role model is their Father or Mother. I remember when atheletes at least tried to look like role models, and I have named some who are very good ones now, and Great players as well. So i don't agree with you that if all the players on the Eagles, or any other Team, were role models that they wouldn't win.
I didn't say ONLY good role models win superbowls, if only that were true. As for trash talking I don't think that is necessarily being a bad role model, it's who or what or when that trash talk is done that matters. If you trash talk at the other team durring the game or before it that is fine. It's not fine to talk bad about your own team or to talk bad about the opponents after the game wether you won or lost. Shokey and Strahan are both great players and even though they both talk alot of trash on the field I have never heard either of them say anything bad off the field.
I understand that Mr. Johnson is upset about his way too big salary and that he feels that he isn't getting a chance to show off at the superbowl because his teammates arn't as good as him and if you haven't gotten it yet this is not the way to voice your concerns. This isn't the first time he has complained. He isn't getting thigs the way he thinks he should at Cinncinnatti and so he wants to go somewhere else, OK, but don't air your dirty laundry in public, go to the GM disscuss your problems and see if you can come to an aggreement. If you can't ask to be traded, don't go to the press and talk dirty about your teammates, coach, and team managment. I tell my kids all the time you catch more flys with honey than with vinegar.
Just to make you happy lets name some more good role models who did all right in the NFL.
Emmit Smith
Roger Stabach
Troy Aikmen
Duce Staley
Ron Jawarski
Steve Young
ect...
I could go on. Help me out guys lets name as many as we can.

Well, thank you sir for putting 3 Cowboys in that list, but you are right. There have been many others from every team. In this world today, I guess a lot of people think it's cool that players cause a lot of controversy and whine all of the time plus get into trouble. Not sure why those particular traits are deemed cool, but whatever trips their triggers, I guess.
