The Texans signed running back and third-round pick Steve Slaton on Tuesday. Slaton rushed for 3,923 yards during his time at West Virginia. Despite leaving after his junior season, Slaton holds the school record for rushing touchdowns with 50, and the single-season rushing yards record with 1,774 in 2006. Meantime, Houston also signed third-round pick Antwaun Molden, a cornerback out of Eastern Kentucky, and fifth-round pick Frank Okam, a defensive tackle out of Texas. To make room on the roster for the three players, the Texans released fullback Jon Abbate, defensive tackle Eric Powell, guard/tackle Charles Spencer and guard Dan Stevenson.
