The Chad Pennington era is over. And while it didn't result in a Super Bowl victory, Pennington had the best run by a Jets signal caller since Joe Namath. He was better than Ken O'Brien, better than Boomer, better than Vinny, and a million times better than Bubby Brister. Some Jets fans with short memories will paint Pennington as an injury-prone passer with a weak arm. Fair enough; there is some truth to that. But let's not forget that the nine-year veteran from Marshall is the Jets all time leader in post-season yards and touchdowns. Or the 8-4 record he posted as a starter when he replaced Vinny Testeverde in 2002. Or the 41 points he helped orchestrate in beating the Colts in the playoffs that same year. Or the 47-yard bomb to Santana Moss in a playoff win in San Diego. And save for a few rare blow ups with the media, Chad handled the pressure of being a quarterback in New York with class and dignity. Today is a good day for the Jets fans. Their team now has a puncher's chance at winning the Super Bowl and there is a buzz about them that has at least for a day (but probably more), taken over New York City. Brett Favre brings the Jets true star power and the "hold-your-breath, don't-change-the-channel" presence the Jets have lacked for some time. But through all the excitement, tip a hat to Chad Pennington, a tough, accurate, smart, competitive quarterback that gave Jets fans touchdowns, wins and a few thrills as well.

Favre + Jets = Embarrassing Mistake?

Broadway Brett makes for a great story, and the New York Giants must be thrilled to have attention deflected away from their attempt to repeat as Super Bowl champions, but not all Jets fans are thrilled with the move. Hot Stove New York: "The Jets had already spent $141 million during free agency this offseason. Now they add one of the Legends of the game to their roster. Will...

FAVRE!!!!!

We're giddy. That's the simplest way to describe it. Kid-in-a-candy-store giddy. Stupid sh*t-eating-perma-grin giddy. Walking around fairly ignorant of anything else going on giddy. Here's my morning, for those who care. And apologies for those just stumbling upon this page who aren't aware of my allegiances (which should now be abundantly clear). I am not a morning...

Troy Aikman Tired Of Brett Favre, Supports Aaron Rodgers

Brett Favre is done with the Packers and likely headed to Tampa Bay, but it didn’t happen fast enough for former Dallas Cowboy Troy Aikman. Years of beating Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers on the field apparently weren’t enough for Aikman who sacked Favre during an appearance with the 2 Live Stews radio [...]

Jets and Packers deal - Favre still in Green

Brett going down to finish his career in Florida? Pennington and Clemens fighting for a starting job? NOT A CHANCE! Favre is traded to the Jets and will be the most notable quarterback in Jet green since Broadway Joe!

Gruden On Favre

"I got a lot of phone calls.  I got a lot of messages on my cell phone.  There's a lot of speculation out there.  I don't want to fuel any reports," Gruden said.  "I'll talk to [G.M.] Bruce Allen.  He's not here.  He's in New York for a league meeting.  There is a labor meeting there.  Bruce is the guy you need to talk to.  I've obviously been working with our football team...

No-Favre Zone

It's pretty clear that Brett Favre won't end up a Chief, and why should he (well, besides the fact that he's a great QB--most of the time)? After all, we already have a country boy with a big arm and questionable decision-making skills, and he's about 15 years younger. Odds ...

Jets and Packers deal - Brett Favre on the Move

The latest reports say that Brett Favre will stay in green. But instead of being in the cheese state, he will move to Broadway. The Jets have traded for the long-time Green Bay quarterback, reportedly giving a single draft pick in return. More to come and contribute to the discussion at ...

Redskins WR Santana Moss Gets Contract Extension

A league source tells us that the Washington Redskins quietly extended the contract of receiver Santana Moss last month, creating nearly the same...

ESPN scrambling for Wednesday programming

BRISTOL, CT — With the trade of Brett Favre from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets completed late last night, panic struck at ESPN headquarters. “Boy, was that an unpleasant surprise for the programming people,” said radio host and SportsCenter anchor Scott Van Pelt. “Tough for me too, to be honest. I mean, [...]

Vegas thinks Brett Farve is only worth half a game

Now with Brett Farve finally a New York Jet, we can really look to see what the experts think. And by experts, I mean Vegas. Back in May the 2008 NFL Over/Under Team Totals came out and had the Jets listed at over 7.5 (-150). Now that Farve will be wearing Gang Green's #4, the total moved to over 8 (-155). It's not the full game I expected, but we know Vegas knows numbers better...

Bruce Allen Interview About Brett Favre

By the way…I love Bruce Allen.  Q: How extensive were the talks with the Green Bay Packers? A: I wouldn't classify it as extensive at all. He may have talked to, from what it sound like, every team in the league. By reading all your stuff from the people covering it closely, it's clear they didn't want to send him to any team in the NFC. Q: You had no negotiations whatsoever about...

He Didn't Look Too Comfy

Last Favre Post of the Week. I Promise. He Didn't Look Too ComfyPerhaps this was to be expected, I mean if you were the face of a franchise for 16 years and people kept on pummeling you with questions about your former team, would you look comfortable. And why wouldn't you feel awkward holding up a green jersey without any yellow. Anyway, it certainly would have felt better as a...

Kevin Garnett Offers a Lesson to Be Learned

Last year when Kevin Garnett was traded to the Celtics I was annoyed for several reasons. One of the major reasons was that I was pissed off that only months prior he basically came out and said he was not interested in playing for the Celtics. And well, why would he have? The Celtics were bad, in order to get him they would have had to give up Jefferson and that would have left...

Not as popular

You might have seen the fans with "Keep Favre" signs at practice. That isn't universal. From WBAY.com:The attitude of Packers fans is being reflected in a new poll out Wednesday on the support of Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers organization. The Wisconsin Policy Research Institute surveyed 600 Wisconsin residents by telephone between Sunday and Monday this week. One of the questions...

Troy Aikman Will Not be a Top Seed in ESPN's Who's FAVRE? Tournament

Prior to Brett F***e's trade to the Jets -- a move which Favre accepted after he was persuaded that he'd be "the face of the franchise in the Big Apple" (per Sal Paolantonio) -- Fox's number one football analyst Troy Aikman opined on the drama on the 2 Live Stews radio show Wednesday. Among other things, Aikman stated that Favre flirts with retirement every...
