The first round is over! Whew! What a rush. That was great. We saw six receivers get drafted in the first round this year, after not a single receiver went in the first round last year. QB Matt Stafford was the first pick and he is now the highest paid player in the NFL with more than $41 million in guaranteed money. The Jets moved up to #5 to get USC QB Mark Sanchez, prompting the Browns to drop down two more times after that and finally picking at 21. The Patriots traded down twice, once with the Ravens for the 23rd pick, then they traded out of the first round all together when they traded the 26th pick to Green Bay. Tampa jumped up two spots to take QB Josh Freeman and Buffalo really surprised by taking C Eric Wood.

Rex Keeps on Blitzing. Draft Day Shock and Awe (or uhhh…)
I’ve gone from being dumbfounded to angry to depressed to optimistic to hopeful to “holy crap, we didn’t really give up that much.” I do not, or I guess I should say, did not like the personality I saw Mark Sanchez put on display the weeks leading up until draft day. He struck me as [...]
The Emo Jets Express Their Dismay With The Jose Namath Pick
The J-E-T-S fans in attendance at Radio City Music Hall were mostly buoyant about the team’s selection of Mark Sanchez, though there were some long-haired misty-eyed dissenters in the mix, as the video illustrates.
If Jets fans are known for their defeatism, or maybe outright belligerence, let’s look at these Lions fans, who show exuberance in [...]
Snyder: Next year’s first is safe
Dan Snyder, speaking on ESPN 980, said it flat out:"We will not trade away next year's No. 1 pick."That pick likely would be a necessary element for them to move up from the 13th spot into No. 3 or No. 4. So it would appear that a trade into the top five to take Mark Sanchez is not going to happen. He volunteered the information in response to Doc Walker's question...

The 2009 Autolic Test: NFL Draft Edition
I thought now was as good a time as any to go over this, mainly because I have a feeling that many of you are wondering. For each draft class we all pick our people. We go over the rounds and decide on a guy based on team, college, style whatever. I also know that many of you want to see an auto before you decide. Or, as I put it, whether or not the guy passes or fails your version...

Sanchez is a Jet: Analysis? Gotta Have Faith...
The Jets had the #17 pick in the NFL Draft as of about fifteen minutes ago. A few minutes ago they picked fifth. Mark Sanchez is now a New York Jet. My phone has already rung three times and the texts and emails are starting to come in from buddies and family who know of my love for the draft and my tendency to torture myself as a Jets fan.Initial thoughts? I'm still trying to...
