Just about the time I was going to post an item about the way the ball has been bouncing in the direction of the Patriots today, Terrell Suggs forced that fumble, Dwan Edwards fell on it in the end zone and it's a whole new ballgame. I'm guessing, up to that point, Ravens fans were seeing it the way I was, especially after Kevin Faulk fumbled that punt and the ball bounced right into the hands of teammate Leigh Bodden. The play looked just like the Chris Carr fumble on the opening kickoff, except for the uniform of the player who fell on the ball. By the way, Suggs was credited with a sack on the Ravens touchdown that gave him the all-time club record for sack yardage.

Suggs, Ravens’ defense take penalties personally

FOXBOROUGH - Terrell Suggs’s demeanor said it all. “Can I get mine out of the way first?’’ the Ravens’ Pro Bowl linebacker asked quarterback Joe Flacco, who was supposed to follow coach John Harbaugh to the podium for a postgame news conference.

Patriots: Brady swings back

If you get a chance later tonight, you can check out my column in which Ray Lewis goes ballistic about the lengths NFL officials are going to keep quarterbacks from getting hit in the pocket. In fact, Ray might just get hit in the pocket for speaking out publicly about the officiating in today's game. Hard to argue with him after the damaging penalty that was called on Terrell...

Patriots 27 Ravens 21 (The 2 TURNOVERS, 2 PENALTIES, 1 DROP Game)

The Ravens lost their first of the season in Foxboro, and the loss came down to five critical mistakes made by the purple and black. 1. Chris Carr’s opening kickoff fumble I’ll admit that, at this point, any good feelings I had regarding the signing of Carr this past offseason have flown the coop. [...]

Video - Manolete Tom Brady's 'Oh Lay' Roughing the Passer

Terrell Suggs barely touches Patriots quarterback Tom Brady who lobbies for a penalty. And gets it! Think the NFL wanted a 4-0 Ravens & a 2-2 Patriots squad? Rodney Harrison, "Horrible call. You... Ravens inch closer

Ravens LB Terrell Suggs blew past Matt Light, then sacked Tom Brady, who fumbled the ball. Dwan Edwards picked up the loose ball in the end zone. The Pats still lead 17-14 with 6:19 in the third quarter....

Ravens: 4-0 or bust

What a way to start a game against the Patriots on the road. Chris Carr fumbled the opening kickoff to give the Pats the ball at the Ravens 12 yard line. You knew this game would come down to a big mistake, but the Ravens have to hope they can overcome a three-point giveaway. The good news. Trevor Pryce just sacked Tom Brady on third-and-long to force the Patriots to settle for...

What Can We Learn from the Ravens Loss to the Patriots?

After Michigan lost to Michigan State and the Ravens lost to the Pats, I wanted to keep as far away from sports news as possible. Today, as I am laid up sick and feeling oddly guilty for not being at work, I find myself capitulating to the boredom and reading the reaction to Baltimore’s loss. I expected to write here about how the Ravens are still a step below the big players in...

More evidence that percentages are with Brady

FOXBOROUGH - Late in the second quarter, shortly after Terrell Suggs had lunged toward his legs, Tom Brady lobbied for enforcement of the rule named after him. The Patriots quarterback gestured for a penalty, the yellow flag subsequently landing at his feet as if he had just successfully executed a rain dance.

Quick Hits: Ravens Drop First Game of the Year

As I’m watching the final minute of the Ravens vs. Patriots, I’m hoping to write about how despite incredibly sloppy play the Ravens squeaked out another win. That wasn’t the case. Here are a few things I noticed about Baltimore’s first loss of the year. Chris Carr hurt us all around - Whether it was his fumble [...]

Harbaugh is hot

John Harbaugh doesn't like his players acting out, but he has been all over the officials during the course of this game, and it's hard to argue after the offensive pass interference call that was just dropped on Derrick Mason. Mason went downfield and faked right into the defender before turning toward the sidelines and catching a pass for a big gain. The play was called...

Have to play better to beat New England

It was there for the taking, the pass, the end zone, the game. But it wasn't just the pass that Mark Clayton dropped at the 8-yard line that cost the Ravens a win in New England. It was a series of mistakes they made right from the beginning. Let's look at the big ones: 1) Chris Carr hasn't distinguished himself on kick returns. His fumbled kickoff to start today'...
