If this season proves to be a real disaster for the Redskins, which I think is likely, then the ownership should use it as an opportunity to make some major changes. One change that I think is long overdue would be to get rid of the current uniform. The current Redskins uniform originated during the 70s with a few minor changes from the Gibbs era. The uniform has a very "dated" 70s/early 80s look, it's neither cool retro or modern. Also, the profile of an American Indian on the side of the helmet is demeaning to Native Americans. The Redskins should make the updated retro uniform (the one with the spear on the helmet) that was used during a few games under coach Spurrier their primary uniform. At least the new uniform would symbolize change.

MVN:
Every organization on a grand quest faces a crises. The ones that face it down and chew it up go on to great things.
We embarrassed ourselves in Detroit. (Yes, I'm a "we" fan.) Players and coaches surely look in the mirror questioning their confidence. The season is at stake. The team can go in any direction.
It's time for leadership on the Washington Redskins and that has to come from the top. Looking at you, Daniel Snyder.
The answer is not be the obvious one. Now is not the time to serve up Jim Zorn's head on a platter.
Organizations facing adversity do not swap key parts in the middle of the fight. There is no tag team for head coaches.
If the Redskins are going to make anything of the next 13 games, they have to do it with the team in place.
Snyder and his deputy, Vinny Cerrato, hired Jim Zorn for a reason. They believed him to be a bright, undiscovered, innovative offensive mind.
Zorn was never a head coach prior to the Redskins. Head coaches face down adversity. They learn to work it through. Zorn can do that best if the craziness around him is deflected. He needs air cover.
The reclusive Snyder has already done that, but it's been a whisper campaign, documented in Adam Schefter's ESPN story this morning, No moves expected with Zorn.
Mr. Snyder must be that spark for his team. He picked Zorn, albeit under odd circumstances. He populated the Redskins with high character guys. Character counts most with times are toughest.
A very public, face to the camera, personal statement by Snyder that he has the utmost confidence in the coach and expects the team to make the playoffs provides shelter for the team to pull themselves together.
That move will redirect fan ire at Snyder, of course. But that's what you need now, Daniel Snyder the lightning rod to save my team.
What happens in December is another matter. If I were the owner, my December conversation with Zorn would start something like: head coach, quarterback coach and playcaller--pick any two and give up the other.
Today, I need Snyder to visibly stand up and tell players and everyone that Jim Zorn is the man.
Do it, Daniel.

Your Monthly Jason Campbell Report: September
With a game review due out later this week anyway (much later, think Friday night), the last thing you probably want to talk about is how the Redskins fared against the Lions. So I'm going to put that on the backburner for the rest of the week since it's not the kind of loss you can get over in a day or two.Especially if you live in Michigan. The Game Tape reviews require a lot...
Redskins @ Lions - Third Quarter Thoughts
All right, finally a few reasons for a little bit of positivity: on the Redskins first offensive series of the half, they successfully ran to the right side (12 yards by Clinton Portis) and successfully completed a long pass to Santana Moss for a touchdown. Also, the defense finally stiffened up a bit, holding the Lions scoreless. Which is not to say that everything was sunshine...
Injury Update: Haynesworth to Have MRI
According to the Redskins, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is not at the facility in Ashburn today, but instead traveled to Tennessee for an MRI on his strained hip flexor. Haynesworth suffered the injury in the second quarter of the loss to the Lions. He returned to play in the second half. He said afterward that "I didn't feel like myself." We will get a more...
Tanya Snyder Steps Up to Lead Breast Cancer Fight
Tuesday is the players' day off in the NFL, so Redskins Park is mostly quiet today, save for a few players trickling in to get treatment on various ailments. But it might be a good time to put all the angst aside to deal with something far more significant. Chris Cooley's mother, Nancy, is a breast cancer survivor. Derrick Dockery's mother, Sheila, is a breast cancer survivor. Daniel...
LaVar's Letter to Redskins Fans
(By Toni L. Sandys - TWP) So I took Monday off for Yom Kippur, and two things happened: 1) Despite not posting a single item, I received more reader e-mails than on any day in my Washington Post career, and 2) I went to a break-the-fast gathering Monday night, where two separate women offered me two separate theories on why the Washington Redskins are currently doomed to failure...

Redskins' Haynesworth injured against Lions
Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was carted off the field Sunday against the Detroit Lions after his sack led to an injury.
Haynesworth kept weight off his right leg when he was helped up off the turf and his head was covered with a towel as he was taken toward the locker room midway through the second quarter.
He signed a seven-year contract worth $100...
Washington Redskins Need to Let Zorn Play it Out, But Let Blache Go
Just my quick two cents: Blache needs to go.
I see a lot of talk of "Fire Zorn," but very little about how badly this defense is playing. This should be a big-play defense and they still can't get it done. Blache explains that "it's the scheme" that has the corners playing off, while there is supposed to be pressure on the opposing quarterback. Sounds...
What Ails the Washington Redskins and Other No Brainers
Ford Field erupted in uncharacteristic fashion at the end of the game against the Washington Redskins as the success-inept Detroit Lions claimed their first victory in 22 months.
Not surprisingly, the visiting Washington Redskins were downtrodden and hung their heads in shame as they had become the second biggest headline in the NFL for all the wrong reasons.
The Redskins have been...
A Forlorn Era Of Cerrato And Zorn
When Vinny Cerrato joined the Redskins, he had just come a successful time working with the San Francisco 49ers. Schwartz: Last season shouldn't be a burden on Lions
They just can't win. Literally, in the case of the Lions (0-2), whose 19-game losing streak entering today's home against the Washington Redskins is tied for the second-longest in NFL history.
