by JJ CooperFiled under: Steelers, AFC NorthCasey Hampton is heading into the final year of his contract, but Steelers coach Mike Tomlin isn't exactly taking it easy on the Steelers nose tackle.Last year, Hampton showed up too fat for training camp (well fatter than normal), so Tomlin sat him out of practices until he melted away some of the extra pounds. He ended up playing his normal key role as the anchor of the Steelers' defensive line, but that hasn't earned him a pass from Tomlin. When asked if Hampton is in better shape this year, Tomlin could have easily said something like: "I'm sure he will be because Casey's a professional," or something like that to send a message while also going out of his way to not needle the big man.Instead, he made it clear that he's not going to coddle Casey.Tomlin Sends Hampton a Message originally appeared on Fanhouse NFL Blog on Thu, 18 Jun 2009 21:48:00 EDT . Tomlin Ticked off at Hampton’s Weight Again

Here we go again. The Tribune-Review reports that Mike Tomlin is ticked off at Casey Hampton for his weight. Just like last year, Hampton had better start working hard to drop weight or he’ll be on the pup list at the start of camp. Here’s the story: As Steelers coach Mike Tomlin delivered [...]

Tim Hasselbeck on Plaxico Burress: 'Disaster as a Teammate'

by Ryan WilsonFiled under: NFL Police Blotter, NFL Fans, NFL Free AgencyIt's pretty well established that Plaxico Burress is a pain in the ass to deal with. The Giants were willing to put up with it until Plax accidentally blew a hole in his thigh at a Manhattan night club last November (when, ironically, he was supposed to be rehabbing a tweaked hammy). The team released him...

With his pending criminal charges not likely to go to trial until March 2010 at the earliest, receiver Plaxico Burress is, as a practical matter, clear to play football in 2009. Sure, he might still be suspended (we’ll have more on that one later in the day), but he won’t be incarcerated for carrying a gun [...]
