Tonight's the night: Yardbarker at the Mansion

Posted June 25, 2008 on YB_BunnyTime's Blog:
The Yard visits the Mansion for some bunnies, booze and fisticuffs. The fights will be broadcast live on ESPN2 (11pm ET). Former lightweight world champion Julio Diaz squares off against an undefeated challenger, David "El Torrito" Torres, who is 20-0 with 13 knockouts. Diaz is no slouch (34-4, 25 KOs); however, he's fresh off a ninth-round TKO loss against Juan Diaz. Tonight's main event is scheduled for 10 rounds. Prior to that, super middleweights Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan and Brian Norman will go eight rounds. Yeah, I know, none of you care about boxing. At least not at a time like this. Which is why we'll make sure we get some face time, photos and video with the bunnies, and also with Chargers LB Shawne Merriman, who happens to be Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan's nephew. The things we do for the Yard. - Dewey

Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Juan Diaz Prediction

If the outcome of this fight depends on overall quality, Juan Diaz has a minimal chance of beating Juan Manuel Marquez. Diaz has made a living out of upsetting the odds and overcoming fighters with more fearsome reputations than his own, but whose hearts were no longer in the game. But Marquez is not an ordinary fighter. Even this slower, aging version of Marquez is infinitely more...

The morning after the Mansion

The Playboy Mansion. Where to start. How about with Crystal, the woman sporting nothing but a painted Yardbarker logo. Or with Hef himself, who spent a few minutes with the Yard. My favorite part about Hef was either the boring khaki pants or his entry-level white Reeboks. I guess when you've spent the better part of six decades surrounded by bunny talent, you grow comfortable...

When a good fight plan just isn't enough

Juan Diaz found out when a good fight plan just isn't enough.Going in against arguably the best fighter in the sport, Juan Diaz went all out Saturday night. When Marquez would seem to get something going, Diaz would come forward even faster, forcing the champion to the ropes with a ferocious...

P. Diddy's Block Party!

Who says partying is easy? Last night definitely involved some hard work, as we got booted from the Best Damn Sports Party Period after only half an hour. It took an hour just to get in. It was another 45 minutes or so before we worked our way into the P.Diddy Block Party. This time, we were there to stay. In the end it was worth all the effort, since we wound up on the VIP balcony...

Hey Manny - SCORE-BOARD

Manny Ramirez might have just set a record for the longest admiration of a Home Run in an MLB playoff game. The only problem was that the Red Sox still trailed the Indians by four runs. That ranks down there with Shawne Merriman doing his "Lights Out" sack dance when his Chargers are trailing the Patriots by 17 points. Video of the back-to-back...
