Top 5 running back tandems

Last year most teams established two backs who were able to carry a load are just change the pace of the game by giving the starter a rest. Here are my top 5 running back tandems.

1. Ladanian Tomlinson, Michael Turner Chargers: What tandem beats the best running back in the league along with a young back who could start for lots of other teams? Pretty much nothing as when LT wasn't scoring touchdowns. Turner averaged over 6 yards a carry.

2. Deuce McAllister, Reggie Bush Saints: The NFL's new version of thunder and lightning as Deuce is a bruising back who will chip away at defenses to make them tired. Then Bush comes in as he as so explosive he can score every time he touches the ball and also contributes in the receiving game catching over 70 passes.

3. Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew Jaguars: To me this tandem is very underrated as Taylor had over 1100 yards last year but Jones-Drew considering his 5'7 frame showed a bruising running style and scored 15 touchdowns. They almost became the only tandem last year to both rush for 1000 yards.

4. Julius Jones, Marion Barber Cowboys: It's going to be a tough offseason for the Cowboys as they are going to have to decide which of these backs will start next season. Jones had over 1000 yards last year along with 4 touchdowns. But Barber was a touchdown machine last year getting 14 and averaging 4.8 yards a carry to go with 600 yards.

5. Warrick Dunn, Jerious Norwood Falcons: This could be a great tandem for years to come for the Falcons as Dunn who is still putting up big numbers will tutor Norwood by giving him tips of how to read holes. While Dunn had 1100 yards last year Norwood had over 600 yards and had an astounding 7.3 yards a carry.

you are forgetting the tandem in Minnesota. Chester Taylor is a work-horse up-the-middle back, and then Adrian Peterson gets in there to break the game open. Watch them each get 1500 yards this season as the Vikings go old-school and run 100% of the time.

who the hell r they??????????????????????

I'd replace Number 4 with Minny's tandem for sure.

Besides that it's a pretty good list.

I hear this year the Colts are going to use Addai and Bernie from a "Weekend at Bernie's".

Who is the featured back for the Falcons, Dunn or Vick?

I'd have to agree, Taylor last year was a horse, and everybody knows what Peterson is goign to bring to the table, according to Eric Dickerson, the possible next 2000 yard back, so I would have to put them at LEAST at 4, possibly 3.

Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts? How many of those other tandoms feature two actual 1,000 yard rushers?

Can you imagine #2 now that they added Pittman. I can see the formations now, a triple I-formation. That's just nasty!

I didn't put Peterson and Taylor because I didn't know how well they would work together considering all of my other tandems have been together for at least a year. Either way though next year they should definitley be on the list.

How many downs has Petersen played yet?

How many TDs did Marion Barber have considering he wasn't the starter in Dallas?

I do agree with Betts-Portis, even though they did have a rough year last year.
