The St. Louis Rams continued their efforts to get younger and rebuild on Friday by releasing seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry Holt. The move, along with the earlier release of Orlando Pace, saves the Rams $14 million in cap room for the upcoming season. Holt can probably still be a very productive receiver in the NFL. Last season was the first year since 1999 that Holt did not record over 1,000 yards and that can mostly be blamed on a horrible offensive line that couldn't prot...

receivers is the last thing that the Lions need I think their list of needs is EVERYTHING but a WR.

Come on lions need everything they might as well try to trade Calvin Johnson and try to rebuild through the draft

theyre not gonna give up calvin

oh i know they are not but why keep someone when the team needs a full recunstruction, maybe they should do the same thing that kansas city did when they traded Jared Allen. I mean wide receivers its the least of their needs, if they cant protect their qb with a solid line a good WR will mean nothing.

Of course all of this its just personal opinion

the lions dont need receivers... they already had roy williams and calvin johnson on opposite sides and couldnt do anything

I don't know if Jerry will be in the sweepstakes or not. Ostensibly, he released Owens to develop and use his young receiver corps, but Holt would be a great addition.

Would like to see it, but don't think its gonna happen. I think JJ is intent on seeing what Austin can do in a more prominent role. Just wish they would've sent Stanback packing along with TO.

I think id much rather trade a 1st and 3rd for boldin than sign old azz torry holt, maybe arizona signs him to reunite with warner so they can move boldin, sounds crazy but just maybe?

That's not a bad idea, and one that I hadn't even thought of. I wish I had included it in this article!!

i just think arizona has plans for boldin and somehow eagles F.O got word of that, the draft picks they have been aquiring to me points out they are going to try and satisfy mcnabb, and as far as arizona goes, havent offered boldin squat in the way of an extension with all the resignings they have done? not to mention logically he will be most valued if traded now instead of waiting to see if he sits out next season and get nothing for him

Hopefully not BowlBound, Im pullin for the Giants to sign him so we have a better shot at Boldin.

I don't think the Giants can sign Boldin. They do not have enough cap space. I just do not think Boldin is going to leave AZ.

What about the Dolphins? I'm not sure how much Parcells would be willing to dish out, but you cant completely count them out. Although it is unlikely that Holt ends up in Miami.
  • eagles4ever05
I would like him in Philly of course But I am thinking maybe 49ers or Titans i say 49ers because I think they want role models in San Fran
  • mvndrexel
He'd be a great pickup for the Titans, at the right price.
    • eagles4ever05
yea they have room for him Brandon Jones left and So did Haynesworth so they have alot of money floating around
  • lets stop with all the boldin trade talk its starting to get old. y would u want to trade our top draft picks when we have alot of needs on this team especialy the offense side of the ball! i would rather have holt he is still a GREAT reciver. you people that keep saying he is old and washed up r bums look at the qbs and the ol he had to play with i dont care who u r ur not going to produce in that offense. desean jackson is on his way of becomming that true number 1 reciver that we all want if we get holt all that would do is speed up his progress of full filling that role. plus if we get boldin and give him a big contract that we all expect them to do and d jax becomes a great wr that would mean the fo would have to rip up d jaxs rookie contract cuz he would clearly out play it and give him the big bucks that he would expect to get. u think lurie would be willing to do that? uuuhhhh nope.

I hope he will be heading to Philly.

At this time of his career he needs to go for the highest bidder.
  • raveneagle
He would shut fans up in Philly. It might be worth it just to have them stop whining about Boldin.
  • holt would be okay, boldin would be better, lets quit with the desean jackson is going to be a number 1,that is wishful thinking,he is very good, but does not have the size to be a true #1,how many times last year did u see hin running routes over the middle,he just is not big or physical enough to be that #1
  • holt is good but i would rather have boldin
