According to NFL Network's Adam Schefter, the New England Patriots signed defensive end Ty Warren to a five-year extension. In June, Ty Warren was seeking a new agent and obviously it worked for him and the Patriots to make this deal sooner then later. The 6 foot 5 inch, 300 pound, Warren was a first round draft pick for New England in 2003. The 13th overall pick was to earn $1.075 million in 2007 and $1.5 million in 2008 under his rookie contract. Under his new contract, Warren is due to earn over $36 million, with $18 million being guaranteed. The Boston Globe's Mike Reiss notes that both sides were willing to negotiate a deal. The Patriots wanted Warren and made the initial move to spark negotiations. Meanwhile, Warren decided he wanted to remain with the Patriots and was willing to work with the team at the negotiating table. In 2006, Warren had a pro-bowl season with a career-high 117 tackles (66 solo) finishing second overall for the Patriots. and also had a career high 7.5 sacks tied for second on the team. Warren is rewarded for 2006 and also should understand with this deal leads to higher expectations (as if Patriot nation is not already expecting another Super Bowl!) through 2011. Who said Belichick is going for one last run for the Super Bowl? This deal strengthens the Patriots commitment to keep one of the best starting defensive lines together long term. Congratulations Ty! Keep up the good work! IN BILL WE TRUST!

New Look For Patriots

It is true that, in the summer heat, the eyes can sometimes play tricks on a person. So it seemed here at the New England Patriots' training camp. Depending on whom one talks with, the AFC East power is either undergoing a startling physical and philosophical metamorphosis, or is the focal point of a massive urban legend. A glance onto the field at Gillette Stadium would...

Samuel: No news, good news?

As the Patriots prepare for their preseason game tomorrow night versus the Tennessee Titans, Patriot Nation is still not sure about what will happen with cornerback Asante Samuel's holdout. The silence leaves Patriot Nation to wonder if Samuel and the Pats are working towards an agreement and Samuel will be good to go before the season starts, or as Samuel indicated in earlier...

5 things to watch for versus the Titans

If there is one word to describe the Tennessee Titans it is 'physical'. This team always comes ready to play and leave it all on the field. Don't let the 40-23 score from last season fool you. They physically put the hurt on the Patriots (especially Rodney Harrison) in the last game of the season. It did not help that the Patriots then went into the playoffs against the...

Tale of 2 Halves…Pats fall 24-27 to Titans

While the first unit looked impressive and gave up no points, the second unit, like last week, allowed the opposition to move at will up and down the field. Second unit futility aside, there were bright spots in the game and also some other concerns.
