Maybe the Packers will have S Nick Collins (chest) this week after all. On Monday, it appeared Collins' injury might keep him out a game or two, but he was back on the practice field today. The decision to release S Aaron Rouse might also have been based partly on the fact that Collins would be available for Sunday's game at St. Louis. It's hard to imagine the Packers would dump Rouse if Collins' status was iffy. The only two players who were held completely out of practice were:S Atari Bigby (knee)LT Chad Clifton (ankle)RB Brandon Jackson, who has missed the first two games of the season due to the ankle injury he sustained in the Aug. 28 preseason game at Arizona, returned to practice.OLB Aaron Kampman was practicing with his right hand heavily wrapped in a club-like cast.Coach Mike McCarthy will hold his news conference in about an hour. There will be additional updated then.-- Rob Demovsky, rdemovsk@greenbaypressgazette.comhttp://twitter.com/RobDemovsky

Collins' return in question

Green Bay — The Green Bay Packers' defensive demise Sunday coincided with the loss of safety Nick Collins, making the prospects for marked improvement this week against St. Louis a bit sketchy. Other than calling it a clavicle sprain, coach Mike McCarthy did not give much detail Monday about the injury that Collins suffered when he hit wide receiver Laveranues Coles...

Aaron Rouse, the bell tolls for thee

The Green Bay Packers have seen enough of Aaron Rouse. The Packers released Rouse on Wednesday, signing Matt Giordano, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts, to take his roster spot. The timing of the move is somewhat curious as Rouse had just taken over the strong safety spot against the Bengals in place of an injured Atari Bigby [...]

I am totally lost....

The Green Bay Packers released Aaron Rouse today, in order to pick up free agent Matt Giordano. How much sense does this make to me? Well, the fact that I just had to check the spelling of Giordano's last name three times before I finally got it right should tell you how much I know about this guy. Now, just three weeks ago, Aaron Rouse was determined to be far more valuable to...

Accountability -- what a concept!

Apparently, the notion of actually being accountable for one's performance as a member of the Green Bay Packers hasn't entirely kicked in with some members of (again) the NFL's youngest team. But if the release of third-year player Aaron Rouse yesterday doesn't get somebody's attention, well, then perhaps it's time for coaches and players to start being a bit...

Rouse cut, Giordano picked up

The Packers' defensive backfield situation, from the preseason on, has been getting dicier and dicier, particularly at safety. Atari Bigby is out for probably a month with the knee injury he sustained in the game versus Da Bearz. Nick Collins sustained an unspecified chest injury in the loss to the Bengals, but did practice today. Aaron Rouse, the third-year player whom the Packers...

Packers Release Rouse, Sign Giordano

In a surprising move, the Packers released safety Aaron Rouse today and signed safety Matt Giordano to replace him.
