The Eagles next free agency move could be signing veteran CB Shawn Springs.  Springs has been a solid corner over the years for the Redskins.  Springs is visiting the Eagles.  The Eagles should be able to add the experienced (12 years) 34-yeard-old CB to a low-to-moderate price.  Presumably, Springs would be the 4th corner on the depth chart. The move could also assist the Eagles move Sheldon Brown to safety.  A secondary of Asante Samuel, Joselio Hanson, Sheldon Brown, and Quitin Mikell would work extremely well and Springs would be a nickel corner.

  • that would be the ideal thing to do. but i would like to see if eagles could get jermanie phillips beacause he is a pretty good saftey and would increase our depth in the secondary if we get phillips and spirngs
  • Well i was just on sirius late hits and i asked the guys what they thought of the eagles situation with bringing in shawn springs and everything and they told me that they wouldnt be surprised to see springs play safety in the twilight of his years here and also he is going to be too expensive just to play as a dime back and they paid Hanson too much to play any less than a nickle. They also said it is possible that sheldon could make the move to safety but hes way to dominant at corner. They also brought up the name Jack Ikeguona and said that he will probablly be the eagles dime back. So this is the formation im seeing regardless what the fellas on late hits said.

    Cornerbacks- Asante Samuel, Sheldon Brown
    Strong Safety- Quentin Mikell
Free Safety- Quentin Demps, Shawn Springs
    Nickleback- Jeselio Hanson
    Dimeback- Jack Ikeguona
  • That makes more sense. I think the Eagles have a very good picture in the secondary despite the loss of Dawkins.
  • i think this isn't a bad move. sheldon brown has very good coverage skills and is still very physical, i actually think he's an upgrade over mr dawkins. we will be able to be more creative in coverage schemes if sheldon is moved to safety
  • their are so many better corners available than springs this makes no sense... if its to move springs to safety their are a few safeties that are significantly better than him and wouldn't need to learn a new position. WTF is going on??
  • on the bench
  • i guarantee anyone if they sign springs it will be to play free safety. quote me and trust me
  • no where
  • We don't need him...William Moore
  • is our answer
  • Ok hes on the Pats and you guys must be joking...Springs at free safety--No way he'll do that even if they want him to (which they don't). Also, he is not better than Dawkins, moron. That guy is a near HOF candidate at safety...I hope you guys don't represent the majority of Eagles fans, because this is laughable

Checklist: Start fast? Yes

I was excited about yesterday's win. Anytime you can get out in front early and stay on top you have to be happy. I said it before, we need to start fast and finish strong and yesterday we did that. What I liked best was that we were able to stay aggressive, convert on 3rd downs, and have success in the Red Zone. We worked hard on those things as a team and it paid off. What...

POSTED 10:42 a.m. EST, March 1, 2008 SPIKES OUT IN PHILLY . . . MOSS IN? On Friday night, an eagle-eyed reader in Philly pointed out to us that the Eagles' depth chart shows Asante Samuel as the starter at left cornerback, and Lito Sheppard as the second-stringer. So we shared that info with PFT Planet, and several members of the Philly chapter pointed out that nowhere...

What Happened To That Free Agency Thing?

Aside from landing Stacy Andrews, an A+ move so long as the right tackle is healthy, the Eagles have been very quiet in the marketplace.? Naturally, lot of people not happy, all this talk about the team being "$48 million" under the cap.The thing about free agency in the NFL is that it's not ...

Patriots' secondary looks less than super on paper

It would be naive to think that the New England Patriots won't contend for another AFC East crown, the postseason or a Super Bowl appearance. They're still the franchise all other teams gun for and certainly should be the favorites to win Super Bowl XLII. But has anyone taken a look at the Pats' secondary this year? When cornerback Asante Samuel signed a multi...

Cleveland Browns Free Agency or Not

After watching a dismal NFL season, I look forward to two things--free agency and the draft. So far, our free agency period has been slow....better yet, nonexistent. Mum is still the word, and the draft is about two months away. Needless to say, I am growing impatient. Why?Well, I saw ...
