Aurora man charged with cyberstalking girlfriend of Bears player
Tribune staff report
August 30, 2007

An Aurora man has been charged with cyberstalking for allegedly sending threatening e-mails to a former Playboy Playmate who is the girlfriend of Chicago Bears safety Adam Archuleta, authorities said.
Edson Diaz, 20, of the 1000 block of North Avenue was arrested Monday night. He was released Wednesday after posting $2,000 bail. Diaz's is the first such case to face prosecution in Kane County, authorities said Wednesday.
Authorities said Diaz began sending threatening e-mails in April to Jennifer Walcott of Scottsdale, Ariz., with whom Archuleta is expecting a baby, Walcott's publicist said.

Aurora Police Lt. Brian Olsen said Diaz e-mailed Walcott through a link on her MySpace page. The e-mails were traced to his home computer, said Olsen, who added that Diaz had threatened to attack Walcott but did not give a motive.
"He's just being verbally abusive and threatening her with bodily harm," Olsen said. Under Illinois' cyberstalking statute, which became law in 2001, it is a felony to threaten someone through the Internet. If convicted, Diaz would face up to 3 years in prison.
He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 13.
