Yeah, you heard me. I'll even write those evil words that will send me straight to football fan hell: I DON'T LIKE BRETT FAVRE. No, I'm not retarded. (Thanks for asking.) I realize the man's an amazing football player, will forever be an NFL legend, and blahblahblah. But you know, for a bunch of "real men", you Favre fans sure do get awfully girly and sappy every time he retires, and that's annoying as hell. "Oh, they took down his nameplate...waaaaaah!" Boo-f**kin-hoo. Can we please stop using up valuable ESPN airtime for your crying? (I mean, just play the D-Wade T-Mobile commercials, instead - he's funny AND nice to look at.) But the Biotch hasn't come out of retirement (hypocritical, but whatever) just to talk about you Favre fans being a bunch of sissies. I'm back to celebrate his kinda, sorta official gone-ness by explaining to you just why my man Aaron Rodgers isn't some guy who has to try to fill his shoes. He's better... I'm not even sure Aaron Rodgers is better than Brian Brohm. Or Matt Flynn. There is a reason the Packers drafted two additional QBs this year. You can't trust a Jeff Tedford pupil.

I've watched Rodgers and think he will be o.k. Even though he has been Favre's back up he still seems to be in the learning process. He should turn out to be a solid QB but I doubt he will surpass Farve in terms of talent or excitement when he hits the field.
  • FootbalGuy29
If he was so much better he would have been the starter.

He has the difficult task of replacing a HOF'er, BUT he also had the privilege of learning from one of the best. I think he will be a top qb in the league in a few years. And I think it is safe to say that a lot of females dont care for Favre... lol

I hate ESPN a lot more than I hate Favre. Why? Because they talk about something that is big in the sports world for two freaking weeks!! Instead of talking about it that day for half an hour or what ever they have 30 minute segments everyday for the rest of the freaking month! Cant stand it. The Mike Vick case, Brett Favre retirement, or Spygate! I can understand trade rumors going on for more than a few days, but they just update it they dont get somebody new in everyday to talk about it.

No kidding! The facial hair is way too queer, and I am sick of those wrangler "manly" commercials! That was great. Good call.

Aaron Rogers will be fine. He has the difficult task of replacing a HOF'er, so anything he does will be scrutinized very closely. People will always use the comarison to Favre. Not sure why anyone really wants to rag on Favre.

I agree about him being a great player and no i dont think Aaron will fill his shoes but what i have to say is On Tv Brett is a great person people love him for whatever reason but here in Miss. The people that dont really know him love his dirty draws and the people that work for him and really knows him claims he's a arrogant Ass. They really cant stand him he's Rude and Obnoxious and talks to his employees anykinda way... I grew up in Gulfport and he grew up 15 min from me in (redneckvill)sorry i mean the Kiln. My freinds and i tease people by saying Its called the Kiln because thats what they would do to some people if they were caught there after dark. Oh well. I'm just tired of fighting with the dude. Let him fight his own Cowboys demons. I have better things to worry about than what the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys are going to to today, tomorrow and the next day. I can't control it anyway. Have a good one.

It takes alot of time and effort and yes "CARING" and visiting many sick and handicapped kids to win that award. How can an arrogant ass possibly have time time to visit hundreds of sick and handicapped kids? Now what lame excuse do you have to say to that?

      "You losers" etc.

I honestly don't care, but some of the comments were pretty rude and more direct than just "Favre sucks"

      Placard_complete_small
Well, don't worry. I embrace the thumb down. Some people love BF WAYYYY too much. It is kind of pathetic really, because even though most of his obsessed fans think Brett Farve actually is their friend, sadly he is not. And probably does not own a chevy, a labrador retriever, OR any wrangler jeans.

Wow, Pink. Looks like you entered a hornet's nest......LOL. Been there, done that. Dallas fan here and I used to hate Favre with a passion, but I have a deep respect for what the man has done in the NFL. Sure, he's had some bad games, but he's got a couple of MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring. I can't jump on him for doing a few commercials just like many other NFL players.
        • Pinkpanthrrr
          Placard_complete_small
ha ha. No I am just sick of the BF love fest. thats all. I don't admire any other player any more or less because of commercials. I just notice his more for some reason.

  • LOL this was a funny post. I'm tired of all the Farve BS too. The last 10 years of his career were average so I don't know what the big deal is.

Good post. I know lots of people love Brett Favre but I'm not one of them either. Don't get me wrong he's a great quarterback but I think the national media overhypes him.
  • NitschkeHawk
hahaha you guys are so cute with this hating, chiiillll. especially you fans with great QB's, you will hear the same shit when they're playing past 35. I mean Peyton's already had more commercials than Girls Gone Wild.

  • DubsFan
Babe, this article is the biggest waste of space of all time.
  • Chuster33
Oh God, I love this article. I feel bad for Rodgers though. The moment he struggles, every Packer fan is going to be calling for Favre to come back.

P.S. Espn's "man-crush" (sometimes it seems like it's a little more than that) with Favre kinda makes me uncomfortable.
  • boogerking

Dinabanina, trust your sentiments. Favre was washed up years ago, did more damage to the franchise in the last five years of his longwinded career by not grooming a replacement, and now acts like a total douchebag about retirement. I get the impression that Favre views the aging process as something that should be red-flagged and reviewed by officials. What a crybaby! He SUCKED for years and got by on fooling naive dolts in Wisconsin that it is un-american to NOT want Favre to be the Packer's QB. I hope he drowns in his tears over the locker cleaning "travesty". Brett Favre, you are a candy-ass!
    • FootbalGuy29
if he was so washed for up years then why did he break all those records last year and the year before
  • When the King speaks, people listen. I agree wholeheartedly. How bout those Phils King?

Sorry not a Farve fan but you have to give him his props no way Rogers will be better than him. But hopefully he will leave the game when his time as come unlike Farve.
  • Wow!!! Just reading through all of these comments made me wonder just how pathetic some of you really are. Ingnorant pieces of S*it. Most of your opinions suck. Talk the Facts. Go rip on yourself if you have nothing better to do.

Yeah man, I checked and there were no other comments on this article from you, Gravytrain. Since you didn't include your take on the article after calling us ignorant I will assume you are a Favre sycophant and are dismayed by people telling the TRUTH about Favre's overdue retirement. Get over it d*ckhead, um,er, I mean cheesehead.
  • bblais8
Okay so I am a Favre fan, but not obsessive by any means. I can understand how others are glad he is retired, etc, etc. But with all honesty what is the point in bashing on him? If you were a professional football player, and loved the game would you be so quick to leave it to? What else do you have to do? Why not just keep playing until you are ready to quit not when others think you should? Everyone makes their own decisions, and Im sure he wasnt' thinking about what bloggers were going to be saying about him when he decided to keep playing, or decided to retire. As a fan, I enjoyed watching him play, and I think he made the right decision by retiring after last year, but lets leave it at that. He's retired (probably), just embrace the new QB.

We comment on what we see athletes do. Whether it's their play on the field, contract situations, trades, or, yes, even the grace (or lack thereof) with which they retire.
      • bblais8
sure but there is a way in which to comment respectfully and maturely and a way to just be judgemental. Like yourself, you commented very respectfully. You can have an opinion and voice it strongly without bashing others.
