Let's be honest. Jason Taylor to the Washington Redskins may seem like a good move at face value, but the only kinds of column this move helps are written local papers, and not of the win-loss variety.
You can NOT question JT's heart when he's on the field. Trust me, I follow the Dolphins. I know 99% of the time, when he's off the field, it seems like he has no interest in playing football. But, on Sundays, on the field, he gives it 100% and is a beast. I don't agree with this article.
It was a lose-lose for the Dolphins. If we hold on to him, we aren't going anywhere in the next two years and when he retires, fans would say we should have traded him. But, now that he's traded the same fans are upset that we unloaded our best player for a 2nd round pick. The whole offseason for Miami has been about change and starting a new, so this is no surprise.
I wouldn't assume that all fans of Miami are sad to see him go ted. He was clearly unsettled and the thought of him niggling away in post-match interviews and distracting from the job of the rebuild going on in Miami was just too much. JT still has some great games left in him but those are better spent somewhere where he can get on with playing. That was never going to happen here. Miami needs press attention like it needs a Cam Cameron offensive scheme. We want a little peace to get on with bedding in the new faces and rookies and building a good foundation for next years draft. JMHO as always ;-)
I think this is a good move. It answers the questions they had on their Defensive front even before the injuries. That's the kind of moves teams make when they are serious about becoming a contender.
a 2nd and 5th round pick is 2 much for anyone, if they are only playing 1 year. especially if the team isn't SB ready, and i think we can agree that the Redskins aren't exactly the favorites 2 win the SB this year.
The author of this article is writing like it was a bad move on Washington's part to trade for JT, I think this is bogus, adding him to any defense makes it better. Maybe he lost the desire to play in Miami and a change of team might be exactly what he needs in order to find his love for the game. If the writer believes that the Skins "at face value, had the look of finally getting it together", does the acquisition of Taylor not make it more so? As a Dolphin's fan I hate to see him go, he is a great athlete and seems to be a genuine person off the field and a leader in the locker room, but if he has the chance to go some where else to possibly be a champion, then so be it. I wish JT nothing but luck and hope he gets to retire on top.
