Will Lito Sheppard Be A Saint Soon?

Lito Sheppard earlier this off season expressed his disapproval when the Eagles brought in pro bowl free agent Asante Samuel. There were rumors going around Sheppard wanted a trade, but that the Eagles were asking to much, and did not want to part ways with the corner back.

But, on Tuesday Sheppard made it clear he does not want to play the 2008 season as an Eagle. He blames the front office for nitpicking certain aspects of his game, that they say need improvement. more...

What can the Saints offer us? Another draft pick...um no thanks we have enough of those.

Colston?? That would be phat

yeah they just got colston for 3 more years i doubt anything is goin down

only way lito is goin to saints...is if cholston comes here

only way they get ltio is for colsotn straight up

Colston won't be an option, or any other WR for that matter. Lito is not worth a Marques Colston, a Steve Smith, an Anquan Boldin or a Roy Williams. He's worth a 2nd round pick MAXIMUM! Heck, maybe they could pick up an offensive lineman.

I'm starting 2 worry we won't have Andrews for this season, so that might be nice.

I think you, me and 5 all share that worry.

Lito needs to man up and just play. If he stays healthy this season, he'll get a deal from someone next season or maybe this, who knows? That was a real good move on his part to change his agent to Drew Rosenhaus. THE most hated agent the Eagles deal with....PLEASE
Did he really think the Birds are going to strike a new deal with a guy who can't stay on the field? OOPS...bad arguement...see Mcnabb. '
Anyway, he needs to shut up and work.....By the way Lurie needs to put a lid on it too and stop adding to the problem with his quotes......

Lito does need to man up a bit, but the Eagles need to back off a bit too. Neither are handling this very well, even though both have arguments. And I agree that Lito is certainly not worth Steve Smith or Colston, he may not even be worth a player straight up. A 2nd rd pick seems a little realistic, but even that might be giving up too much. Especially for a disgruntled often injured corner, the price will be low because of his injury past and also cause teams know the Birds aren't going to keep him and must get rid of him. All these rumors on the yard are making Eagles fans look real stupid, I'm pretty tired of them. Hell it's making Philly fans look stupid, every damn player that demands a trade or might not be happy all of a sudden on the yard is "reported" to be coming to the Eagles, Flyers, Sixers or Phillies, it's garbarge.

I don't agree with your assesment the Birds have to let him go. To me, the Eagles hold the cards here. First he is under contract for another year. What are his options. Walk out of camp and get fined. If he sits out the year he proves nothing. Still can't play anywhere else and loses another year in his career. If he falls in line and proves he can play injury free, maybe they accomidate him and send him to another team. With preseason starting their are always injury's and a team will come calling looking for a starter. I just think it is in his best interest to stop chirping and play...... and since when do we as Eagle fans give a rats a_s what people think of us!!

Lito=insurance once again...Eagles primed to have best secondary around...think about it, Lito in a nickel package with the other four, that's flat out nasty...a third all-pro caliber CB, who can help with nickel and dime D schemes to cover a wide array of Opposing WR sets, that would have any Eagle fan pumped...and second, you guys have an all-pro who can step in and not miss a beat if the main 2 get injured...there is no other team who has that capability...gotta keep him...there are 31 other teams who don't have that...shoot, I'm envious...the only reason to trade him is if he becomes bitter or the an offer for a trade is too good to pass up...I don't get the local media vibe on Lito, but gotta keep him...ah, you guys know way more than me of what your FO needs to do

Drew Rosenhaus vs MGMT is not a good scenario. Philly has gone that road before with the T.O. situation. Once somenoe becomes this disgruntled, it's hard to repair and in this case a notoriously hardline agent won't help the situation.

yeah Rosenhaus is just no good

Okay the source of the original article is posted on a opinion/rumor site for the Saints. It has no credibility or any direct quotes from anyone. Lito will play opposite Sheldon tomorrow night against the Steelers for a quarter and a half and try to shut down Hines Ward/Santonio Holmes. The Saints have nothing to offer to the Eagles and Lito will play out this year. Let's stop stirring drama and once again beating the dead horse. Everything is what it is and as Andy Reid always says, "we'll take a wait and see approach."

Lito's not going anywhere this season. He has no choice but to play and stay healthy to market himself for an off season trade next year. By then, the Eagles will be ready to see if Jack Ikegwonu is a steal once he heals from his injury. Lurie needs to no address players and/or stats. YPA(yards per attempt) is a stat for QBs not CBs. No what you're talking about before you speak JEFFREY!!!

i think sheppard and a 1st round pick could get a WR but i dont think thatll happen unless the eagles FO really tries to put their minds to it

Lito sheppard is not TO and drew rosenhaus cannot employ the same tactics. If Lito starts doing situps in his driveway, no one will care.

Well why would we want 3 first round picks when the eagles always trade down picks an stay with Second round picks but if they get 3 they will have so much leverage an better Trades.... Lito is a Good CB but he needs to shutup.... Who needs to get paid and who will get paid is WESTBROOK period HE is Deserving an he is working with The Eagles an knows what to do an thats Shut up an play football..... he hasnt complained he is understanding.... Its not like the FO doesnt want to give money to accomidate an put smilles on players faces but the NFLS Rules an Regulations regarding Extensions is what is holding that process for WEstbrook and he understands that.... Lito Has not proven anything Yet more injuries than Results prove u can be healthy an than either we can rework something or we trade an get a player of some sort and or draft picks...... Come on Guys an kind of Trade Can happen I dont know what the Packers Got for Brett Favre but come on to the JETS..... it just goes to show how the NFL works and yes Eagles holds the Cards.. and thats final...... Eagles wont stop winning games just cuz one player lost his spot underachiever.....

Lito is just going to have to suck it up...he's not going anywhere and he has absolutley no leverage..boo hoo Lito, maybe try to learn how to play with some grit and play through injuries..it might be said that you haven't even lived up to your current contract, let alone a newer, bigger deal..Do the 'Aints fans wan to pony up the ridiculous money Lito and his worm of an agent want, seeing how he is "injury prone"(i.e. whines like a little princess about every nagging injury he has) and is a player noted for playing up and down to his opposition, talent wise? By the way go birds, E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!!!!

i like lito and all and he is a outstanding cover man but as much as he is hurt i would rather the eagles trade him then give him a big deal. and Colston is off the saints arent going to trade him.

True, Lito is under contract for another year. That doesn't mean the Birds can say your playing, and everything will be fine. That will fly this season, but certainly not next, so all the offers for Lito will be low ball offers the Birds won't bite on early. Now next off-season and the opening of camp roll around the offers won't get better because other teams will know the situation and understand that both just want to cut ties. Thats what I was saying. How often do you see a disgruntled player in the NFL get traded for actual value? Hardly ever.

it seriously appears Lito is gonna be gone this week.... I'd like to get something more than another Fn draft pick....
hope the Birds got somethin up their sleeve

they do have something up their sleeve squish!!! millions of bucks that refuse to spend!!!

yeah im gettin a bit tired of it.... a young pro bowl defender is someone u re-sign.... i can understand an aging player but this guy is prime and we dont win championships cuz we dont pay winners.

what makes you say that squish?

Jeff Lurie made some comments that surely Lito did not like, the Lito said it was obvious he should be elsewhere....can't remember the quotes but the bridge is burning

When did all of this happen?? I didn't know anything about that. I mean Lito played in the preseason opener.. didn't hear or read anything.. if you come across an article or something please repost..

happened the day of the game i believe

it was front page news lurie giving the yard per attempt stat for a corner and lito blasting back

Call Phil Savage in Cleveland.............we could use Lito immensely, and I am sure theres a player we could send you offensively ( WR, TE, QB) or even some later round picks.

This Lito thing you all have been dealing with has been keeping me intrigued. Good Luck................

How bout we'll take Braylen Edwards for Lito????

i would defly do that if it were an option and not a dream

No dice............

FOR JSOUPY023.......

Jeffrey Lurie's State Of The Team Address
August 4, 2008 | Last Updated: 8/4/08 2:16 PM ET

On whether he thinks that CB Lito Sheppard has outperformed his contract: "The one thing I never do is I try to always be positive about every single player on the roster. I don't get involved in the press, particularly with agents, nor do I deal directly with agents. So, I'm not even going to address that. I will say that I'm very hopeful that Lito will have a terrific season. (That he will) show us, and the league, that he's back to the old Lito, feels healthy, (that) he's got great playmaking ability and certainly a lower YPA (yards per attempt) and just really perform the way that we know Lito can. I think that's what he's going to do."

You can look up the entire quote on the Eagles website.....

thank u sir.... i was honestly just too lazy to look it up to show him.....i had only read the last part(taken out of context) hopefully lito is able to read the entire interview/ comment as well

cool.. good look, appreciate it!

No Prob.....
