TEAMS: Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings
I spent Sunday afternoon at Bar None, the Vikings/Saints hangout in Manhattan, checking out the Vikings-Lions game. It was the first time I had been back in a few weeks. High praise for Rice
Two NFL greats are big fans of Vikings receiver Sidney Rice.
"He's becoming one of the big-time wide receivers in this league," said hall of fame receiver Michael Irvin, now an analyst for the NFL Network.
Meanwhile, Deion Sanders said Brett Favre to Sidney Rice reminds him of another formidable duo.

Rice leads NFC in receiving yards, Favre top passer rating
With his 201-yard performance, Sidney Rice leads the NFC with 786 receiving yards.
Former Vikings receiver Randy Moss leads the league with 891 receiving yards, and he's followed by Reggie Wayne (879) and Houston's Andre Johnson (800).
That's pretty good company for Rice, since all three are perennial Pro Bowl selections.
Among players with at least 35 catches, Rice...
Crazy Fran Zeroes in on Cutler
When Fran Tarkenton criticizes quarterbacks, people listen, and often get very angry.
This summer, after Fran made negative remarks about Brett Favre, saying he could never accept the former Packer legend as a Viking, certain (unthinking and ungrateful) members of Purple Nation made Tarkenton numero uno on their crazy Kool-Aid drinker ****-list, calling him all sorts [...]
Weekend rumors and rambling
It’s official, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Antoine Winfield will not play against the Lions on Sunday. If the O-line can keep Jared Allen out of QB Matthew Stafford’s face, it could be possible for the Lions to put some points on the board. They’re going to need them as Butt Favre will undoubtedly light up Detroit’s [...]

Favre's experience provides a lift for Vikings

NFC North: Vikings soaring, but not yet at apex
A losing season is now out of the equation for the 2009 Minnesota Vikings, not that such a notion had ever really entered this talented team's scope.
