Winning without the Bye

I'm glad we didn't have a bye week heading into the playoffs. I

really do think it hurts more than it helps. When you have momentum

and you're winning games like we have been it's much better to keep

playing than have a week off. When you get that down time guys seem

to get a little too comfortable and it really knocks you off rhythm.

I talked to Marlon McCree about that and he said the same thing. When

you win six games in a row to finish the season you want to keep it

going and the best way to do it is to go straight into the playoffs

without a bye.

We won a bunch of games last year and had a bye week. I was a little

worried that it would knock us off rhythm and sure enough we came out

flat against the Patriots. We lost coming out of our bye week in the

regular season too. When you're winning you want to keep playing and

I know it made a difference this time. That's why we're moving on and

heading to Indy. And believe me it was a big win. It was by far the

loudest I have ever heard the fans. They were great. The staff,

coaches and players were all pumped up. It was a long time coming and

you could feel it.

Cletis,

I've watched a few Colts games at the RCA Dome. The key to beating Indy is to take away the quick outlet passes to Dallas Clark and Joseph Addai. If you can, put Peyton and Marvin Harrison on their back. Even if you get a few late penalties for late hits, it will payoff by the fourth quarter. If Peyton has time, he will kill you.

I'll look for #24 on the field. On the punt returns, run straight forward, I hate it when returners run east and west. The NFL is too fast for running side to side.

San Diego matches very well against Indy. Good Luck! -MrBest7

Thanks

Hey Cletis, welcome back, man! Do you agree with what Shaun said on his blog - that this win wasn't really as big of a deal to the team as it was to the fans?

I disagree. Anytime u get a win in the playoffs...its huge. I agree when he says we're hungrier this year. If we continue to stay focus, i think we'll be in AZ.

no offense to MrBest7 ... but I always laugh when people reply to athletes with their personal gameplan.. like they already dont have a locker room full of highly paid coaches giving them good advice already.

After the chargers lose this weekend, Cletus is gonna be sitting in the locker room like "if i had only listened to that guy on Yardbarker......"

ok sorry, had to get that off my chest

Obvious Colts fan angry that I said Peyton Manning needs to be placed on his backside. GO FOR THE RIBS CLETUS!!! If you get the chance. Give him a bad day. Nothing permanent of course!

dont be sorry, you will jump on the bandwagon sooner than later.

Hey Flash, can I call you Flash?...... been following your career since day one, so much so check out the jersey I got. Great to find u posting here. Do u post on any forums on the internet?, would love to see u over at the Charger forums (not the 'official' one though-far too busy). All the very best against the Colts, will be watching from afar (I live in Ireland).

Im diggn the jersey! I dont post on any forums but u can check out cletisgordon24.com. Thanks for the support, geaux chargers

Sportaphile the average,

Great ideas can come from anywhere, why be so ignorant.

Chargers own the ponies, period. Talk all the injury report smack you want about this years game, tell me how Manning threw 6 picks and still lost by two, that we needed two returns for td to win. in 04' you escaped us at home in 05' you weren't so lucky, plan on seeing timmah' frowning on the sidelines AGAIN.

Cletis do the DAMN thang!!!! The whole city has your guys's backs we believe this is our season, we know what it feels like tolose and we are no longer gonna stand for it, lets go BOLTS!!

Were going to take it this year. Thanx for da support

First and foremost, it is good to have you back barking loud and clear! I totally agree that having a bye week puts a damper in the system! However, it is good that you guys are on a winning streak. I am wishing you the best of blessings in the upcoming game! I am sure that things will work out the way your heart desires! May God send His angels to shield and protect you and all players during this week's game! I pray that there be no injuries in this game and may you have every good and perfect gift your heart desires! Geaux Flash!!!! Geaux Chargers!!!!

Sup Flash, congrats on the win this past Sunday. It was huge for the Chargers and the City of San Diego. Our city is pretty notorious for being a transplant city so we got a lot of fair-weather fans and I heard all the boo-birds at the game when Norv took a FG instead of going for the score. I'd just thought I'd throw in there that there are fans out there that support you guys (players and coaching staff) 100% and bleed blue and gold. Bolt pride is forever and you guys get nothing but the upmost respect from us. Good luck in Indy

HEY WATS UP CLETIS I KNOW YOU GET IT ENOUGH AS IT IS BUT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET A HELMET SIGNED BY ALL YOU GUYS OR AUTOGRAPHS YOU KNOW HOW CAN A DO THAT YOU GOT ANY TIPS SEE YOU IN ARIZONA
