New England Patriots defensive end/linebacker Chandler Jones has spent his offseason working on how to get to the quarterback. He used different strategies on getting bigger and stronger, martial arts and boxing to improve the use of his hands. In the end, Jones just wants to do whatever is best for the team and in his second year with the Patriots, he wants to make a bigger impact than his solid rookie season. Jones talks about that there is very little difference between being in a three point stance or two point, and that ‘Whatever Bill tells him to do,” presumably rush the passer. The release of Brandon Deaderick and Kyle Love puts more pressure on a bulked up Jones to turn it loose. Jones would see more action as a defensive end in the Patriots 3-4, continuing the evolution of their defense to a slimmer faster version. “Whatever Bill tells me,” said Jones, via Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. “Whether it’s putting my hand down, or standing up.” “Going in with different game plans, you really need your hands,” Jones said. “You need quick hands to get by defenders. My goal is to get better, so you just ignore the noise, put the team first and do your job.” “We’re just trying to make progress every day, take one day at a time.”
