* I wrote earlier today about the possibility of Michael McAdoo as a high-upside player for the 2012 Baltimore Ravens. The reasoning behind it was Jarret Johnson is set to be a free agent. Although word has it from Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News the New York Jets are interested in Johnson. If they sign Johnson it would reunite the linebacker with his old defensive coordinator. When Ryan first took the Jets’ head coaching position, he recruited Bart Scott to be his inside linebacker. * Jason La Canfora and Aaron Wilson are both reporting the Ravens are cutting cornerback Chris Carr. No surprises here. Carr was injured for the first time in his career and his performance fell off because of it. * Wilson is also reporting the Ravens are set to cut cornerback Domonique Foxworth and wide receiver Lee Evans. Clearing these two players will open up more cap room for the Ravens. Bookmark It Hide Sites $$('div.d32033').each( function(e) { e.visualEffect(&#...

Free Agency Blitz: Why The Ravens Won't Bring The House

While many NFL fans wait with bated breath for March 13, Ravens fans should know to cool out.  The Ravens won't make any big moves on the free agency playground.  Beyond the obvious limitations of cap space, there are several indicators that Baltimore won't hit the market with a bang. Grubbs isn’t on verge of signing

One of Baltimore’s top priorities this offseason is re-signing left guard Ben Grubbs, a Pro Bowler. Last week, I wrote that the team’s Web site was reporting the Ravens have been negotiating with Grubbs and he was still a possibility to return for the 2012 season and beyond. According to the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Zrebiec, nothing is imminent with Grubbs and it looks like the...

Ravens tag Rice, release Evans and Carr

As expected, the Ravens placed the franchise tag on running back Ray Rice, according to the team’s Web site. This doesn’t come as a surprise as it was expected the Ravens were going to tag Rice. The franchise tag will pay him in the neighborhood of $7.7 million. In the past, the franchise tag has been a prerequisite for the Ravens signing someone to a long-term deal. Cornerback...

Confirming what his agent, Todd France, said earlier in the week, Ray Rice will soon become Baltimore’s franchise player. Upon placing the tag on Rice, the team will have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal...

Hines Ward wants to join Ravens?

For those in Steelers Nation still shaken over the departure of Hines Ward, not to worry. There’s a chance you’ll see him on at least two occasions next season. Beat writer Ed Bouchette joined Pittsburgh’s 93.7 The Fan Thursday to discuss Ward’s future, and opined how he thinks the veteran receiver would “love” to play for a certain divisional rival. “I think he’d...

Ravens Tag Ray Rice

As expected, the Baltimore Ravens have placed the franchise tag on running back Ray Rice. Fantasy Spin: Keeping Rice was clearly a top priority for Baltimore, and the young stud averages 1,961 yards from scrimmage over the last three seasons. And the AFC North juggernaut remains hopeful of reaching a long-term deal with Rice.

The Ravens have until Monday to apply the tag though Pro Football Talk reported that they are poised to do it tomorrow.

Ravens cut Chris Carr

The Steelers aren’t the only AFC North team saying goodbye to one of their players on Thursday. Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times and Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network are both reporting that the Ravens are releasing cornerback Chris Carr. Carr played just nine games for Baltimore in 2011 because of a…

Three years after Rex Ryan plucked Bart Scott out of Baltimore, the Jets’ head coach has turned his sights on another Ravens’ linebacker to help solidify Gang Green’s defense.   The Daily News has learned that the Jets are interested in landing free agent outside linebacker Jarret Johnson, who ...

Ray Rice knows he’s not going anywhere

The franchise tag has been a dreaded tactic players love to avoid. However, in the NF,L the tag helps teams keep key free agents in an era of free agency. Ray Rice would love to test the market and see what he could get as a viable market option. That is not going happen as the Ravens aren’t that dumb. Rice is in negotiations with Baltimore, hoping to come to a long term agreement...
