A Giant Leap in NFL Technology?

A news article snuck its way onto my screen this morning that I thought should be brought to everyone’s attention. While it’s not directly-tied to the New York Giants, it brings-up a hugely important issue as it relates to the NFL overall. So to take a step-back from the craziness of training camp, I present to you the following thought (courtesy of Reuters): What if the NFL placed microchips in footballs? Reuters explains: “The National Football League (NFL) are in discussions about employing chip-in-ball technology to help rule on contentious touchdown and first down calls, German manufacturer Cairos Technologies has told Reuters.” In a time when many soccer and baseball fans are actively discussing replay and other ways of migrating technology into games founded on the “human element” principle, this development truly takes the issue to the next level.
