Defensive players of the Oakland Raiders decided to fine themselves $100 for each penalty and since the Raiders have committed a league-worst 82 penalties on defense they are paying for it. In fact $8,200 worth of penalties, more than twice the league average of 35. According to the SFGate.com, It doesn’t really fit in a jar. “It’s in a Brinks truck,” defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan, who brings out the money as a visual reminder at meetings and locks it up at night. “Charity will love us at the end of the year,” Bresnahan said. The 2011 squad established new NFL marks for penalties and penalty yardage, finishing with 163 for 1,358 yards and breaking the standards established by the 1998 Chiefs, who were flagged 158 times for 1,304 yards. “We have overcome it in certain instances but, then for us, in certain drives, like the Detroit game, we have those (penalties) that keep drives alive that make a difference in the game,” Bresnahan said. “So, we got to eliminate it.
