Provided the rusty 35-year-old remains healthy, one rival executive predicted to NFL Network’s Kim Jones that quarterback David Garrard will start Week 1 for the New York Jets against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 8. Tentatively slated to battle rookie Geno Smith and abysmal chucker Mark Sanchez for the starting job, the 6-foot-1, 235 pound Gerrard could be an ideal Band-Aid for Gang Green. Geno Smith, drafted in the second round by the Jets, has responded to several unflattering allegations recently made about him, saying, "I don’t worry about what people say."
ROC NATION RECRUITING
Geno Smith recently fired his agents after dropping in the draft and now Jay-Z and his Roc Nation agency reportedly have set their sights on the Jets draft pick.
The New York Jets have agreed to terms on four-year deals with two of their seven draft picks: offensive lineman Brian Winters and fullback Tommy Bohanon.
Winters' agent Joel Segal confirmed the agreement Thursday night, but declined to give financial details. The deal is believed to be for close to $3 million.

BRING HIM IN
Some people really want the Jags to sign free agent quarterback Tim Tebow. There are radio ads telling the team to sign the QB.
If you're an NFL fan, you typically fall into one of two classifications: those who are for Tim Tebow and those against him.
It's quite obvious where a certain sect of Jaguars fans stand.
The Bold City Brigade, a Jags booster club now in its second year, has started a website, Evenifhesreleased.com, to combat the swirling Tebow rumors, petitions, and PR campaigns.
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson had a few words for Geno Smith Tuesday preparing him for what lies ahead in Jetsland.
Manish Mehta of The New York Daily News spoke with Johnson at the NFL's Career Development Symposium in Philadelphia and relayed this simple message to Smith:
"Welcome to the competition," said Johnson. "It’s going to be fun."...

Even with a segment of Jaguars fans pushing for the franchise to sign Tebow now that the Jacksonville-area native and former University of Florida star is a free agent. Even with the Jaguars having an unsettled situation at quarterback with Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne.
New general manager David Caldwell hasn't changed his...
Tim Tebow is still in search of an NFL job, and many have speculated that the New England Patriots would be a logical destination if he is willing to give up on playing quarterback. Bill Belichick is known for getting the most out of players and showcasing their versatility, so some have wondered if the Patriots could use Tebow as an H-back or tight end.
According to Michael Silver...
With two key additions to their offensive backfield, the New York Jets are well on their way to reclaiming their ground and pound rushing game of yesteryear.
Forbes says so, anyway. Despite the fact Tebow is now unemployed after throwing just eight passes with the New York Jets in 2012, he's landed in the top spot on their annual list of the country's most influential athletes.
Here are the results (found influential by __%):
1. Tebow (29)
2. Michael Phelps (25)
3. Usain Bolt (23)
4. Derek Jeter (22)
