This was an important year for Tarvaris Jackson’s career. His window as a potential starting quarterback seemed to be over after his time in Minnesota. Had it not been for the lockout and the extremely shortened offseason, it likely would have been. Instead, the Seahawks gave his career as a starter one last shot since he already knew the the new offense that was being installed by new offensive coordinator Darrell Bevel. Despite what you might have read elsewhere, the results weren’t much different that was expect. I’m referring, of course, to the fact that Jackson wasn’t all that good, especially early in the year. After the first 3 games, Jackson played better. The only game in which he was genuinely bad the Dallas game in week 8. Other than that, he played well enough for the team to consider starting him in 2012, but not well enough for anyone to believe that he is any sort of long term option at the position. The opinion of Jackson after this season mig...

Don’t worry, Pete: Cable will remain attached to the Hawks this year

It’s understandable that Seahawks coach Pete Carroll doesn’t want to lose the man who finally resurrected the Seahawks’ long-dormant running game, but his fears of losing Tom Cable this year certainly seem unfounded, and the odds are quite good that Cable will be around to help continue the growth of the offensive line for at least another season. After a very slow start, Cable...

That'll Do, Tarvaris.

"Seahawks? PFFT. Why the hell did you guys sign Tarvaris?" That was what a TSA agent said to me before I boarded my flight west for that Seahawks v Cardinals game last September. Few of Seattle's offseason moves were more derided than the twin decisions to let Matt Hasselbeck walk and replace him with ex-Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson. I'll admit that at that moment...

Could the Seahawks end up with Peyton Manning?

The Seahawks need a quarterback – one better than the T-Jack/Clipboard Jesus dynamic duo. Tarvaris Jackson and, to an extent, Charlie Whitehurst, were decent enough to keep Seattle in the playoff hunt for a little while. But the Seahawks need a QB with some “wow” factor, a real passing threat who would open up Marshawn Lynch’s running game even more. With...

Seattle Seahawks Shouldn’t Reach For Robert Griffin III In 2012 NFL Draft

SEATTLE — Two years into his tenure as Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll is entering his third consecutive offseason without a long-term answer at quarterback. In 2009 he made a bold statement by swapping second-round picks, and trading a third-round pick in 2011 for Charlie Whitehurst, who hadn’t thrown a regular season pass in his career. After failing to beat out Matt...

5 Reasons the Seahawks should NOT sign Matt Flynn

Seahawks insider Brandon Choate is on the Matt Flynn rollercoaster today. He brings us his top 5 reasons why the Seattle Seahawks should NOT sign Flynn, citing his lack of NFL experience and how the Packers system set him up for instant success. He also gushes about his obvious choice in the situation, Robert Griffin III. Tarvaris Jackson and Charlie Whitehurst are not the answer.

A Year Year in Review – Marshawn Lynch

By all measures, Marshwn Lynch had a great year. He set new career highs for yards and touchdowns, and did so playing behind one of the weakest offensive lines (at least for the first half of the season) in the NFL. What’s amazing about the 1204 yards that Lynch finished with is that after 7 games (6 games played, and 1 he missed due to a back injury), Lynch had just 263 yards...

A QB Option For The Seahawks That No One Is Talking About

I’m already getting tired of the QB topic. I know it’s the biggest question of the offseason, but … [visit site to read more]

Grading the Hawks: The need for speed

While disappointed his team didn’t make the playoffs, Seattle head coach Pete Carroll overall was pleased with the progress his young team made this season, even though the Seahawks finished 7-9 for a second straight year. Still, when asked where he thought his team needed to improve at a season-ending press conference this week, Carroll said he wanted to add speed at linebacker...

Morning links: 2 more sign futures contracts

The Seattle Seahawks announced that they have signed two more players to futures contracts as they firm up the 80-man roster for 2012, receiver Charly Martin and defensive tackle Adrian Taylor. Martin, 27, is 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, played at West Texas A&M and was with Jacksonville’s practice squad last season. Taylor, at 6-foot-3, 311 pounds, played for the University...
