Last week, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested on charges of the murder of his friend, Odin Lloyd. Naturally, the media has begun digging into the former All-Pro’s past, and reports of numerous prior altercations have sprung up from different publications. Hernandez’ time at the University of Florida has come under much scrutiny – and former coach Urban Meyer has been getting slammed as a result.
While Meyer himself has not responded to the criticism, as Bob Hunter of The Columbus Dispatch points out, his family members have.
His wife, Shelley, and his daughter, Gigi, both expressed how they felt about the situation on Twitter on Wednesday.
When will we start holding individuals accountable for their own decisions/actions and stop blaming any/everyone else? #liveyourliferight

Smh ppl lol #liveyourliferight and #stopblamingothers.. There’s this thing called #SelfAccountability. It exists, I swear. God Bless

Clearly, both are tired of the media “blaming” Meyer, expressing their view that individuals should be held accountable for their actions, not former coaches. It’s hard to disagree with them.
We’ll let you know if/when Meyer officially comments on the situation. He’s already got enough issues with the Gators at the moment, so who knows when we’ll hear from him.
