New England agreed to a five-year, $40 million extension with tight end Aaron Hernandez on Monday.Fantasy Spin:Hernandez has averaged 62 catches and 736.5 yards during his two seasons in the league. He's also a threat on the ground, having rushed for 61 yards on five carries in last January's playoff game versus the Broncos. Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski (90 receptions, 1,327 yards, 17 TD in 2011) were part of the most productive tight end duo in league history last season and both players should be just as dominant in 2012.

Aaron Hernandez's Big Money Contract Is Perfect Fit for Patriots, But Could Signal the End for Wes Welker

Aaron Hernandez says that he was "emotional" when he and the Patriots began discussing a long-term contract extension earlier this offseason. Now, the talented 22-year-old tight end simply says that he feels "blessed." After yet another season of establishing himself as an invaluable player within New England's offense, Hernandez now has the big money deal...

Gronk or Hernandez?

In light of Aaron Hernandez’s recent signing of a five-year, $42 million contract extension with the Patriots, I’m curious as to whether people think the motivated Hernandez or model of consistency in Gronk will have the better season. Take Our Poll -Ryan Hartley

It seems that I’m not the only one that feels as if tight end Aaron Hernandez has a very bright future ahead of him.  Apparently the New England Patriots ownership agrees, having just yesterday signed him to a five-year deal worth $42 million with $12.5 million guaranteed.  According to Hernandez, he saw the deal in his near future once his counterpart agreed to a long-term extension...

New England Patriots extend TE Aaron Hernandez

I liked the Patriots’ extension of Rob Gronkowski because I feel the value of the tight end position is going to go up in the next 2 years, between now and when Gronkowski would have been a free agent in 2014. I’m not so sure about this deal. Gronkowski’s was 6 years, 54 million. Hernandez’s is 5 years, 40 million. The Patriots are taking an awfully big risk that the tight...
