The fiancée of ex New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez along with Hernandez’s cousin were indicted today in connection with the Odin Lloyd murder case. According to an initial report from tmz.com and the Bristol County, MA D.A’s Office, Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez’s fiancée, was charged with a single count of perjury. No further details have been released surrounding her charge. Tanya Singleton, Hernandez’s cousin, was charged with Conspiracy to Commit Accessory After the Fact meaning that the authorities believe she helped one of the alleged accomplices. The police believe that Singleton paid for a bus ticket to Florida so one of Hernandez’s accomplices could flee. The alleged accomplice, Ernest Wallace, was arrested in Florida and charged with being an accessory to Lloyd’s murder. Tanya Singleton has already pled not guilty to a criminal contempt charge and authorities say she refused to testify before the Grand Jury in Hernandez’s murder case. Jenkins and Singleton were not arrested and they do not have a court date scheduled yet. Jenkins faces up to 2 ½ years in a country jail if convicted on the perjury charge but sources close to the situation have speculated that she would likely only receive six months to a year as well as a $1000 fine. If Jenkins goes to jail then child services would be required to make arrangements with her family for the care of her and Hernandez’s child.
