While most of the NFL world turned its attention to one of the dirtiest stories in league history, the University of Oklahoma announced last Thursday that the school’s third all-time leading rusher had given back $1 million to the university.
Adrian Peterson’s pledge comes nearly eight months after signing a record-breaking contract extension with the Minnesota Vikings, which included $36 million guaranteed.
It’s the largest donation the school has ever received from a former Sooner athlete and the football team’s meeting room will be renamed in his honor. The funds will go towards construction of a privately financed facility and also create a football scholarship endowment, via a press release by the school.
“This was something that I had been thinking about doing for a long time,” Peterson said in a release by the school. ”I always hoped to be in a position to be able to donate back to the University of Oklahoma and make it an even better place; do whatever I could to help the ...

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Evan Silva, the Minnesota Vikings are looking at possibly drafting either LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne, Oklahoma State wide receiver Justin Blackmon or USC offensive tackle Matt Kalil with the third overall pick.

The Minnesota Vikings have signed linebacker Marvin Mitchell.
The deal was announced Tuesday on the team's website. Terms were not disclosed.
Mitchell was a seventh-round draft pick by New Orleans in 2007 who spent four seasons with the Saints and last year with Miami. He had 30 tackles, two forced fumbles, one sack and one interception last season for the Dolphins.

According to the team's website, Minnesota signed Marvin Mitchell, a five-year veteran who played last season with the Miami Dolphins. Mitchell, 27, will also play on special teams after tallying 30 tackles, one sack, one interception and one forced fumble...
On March 16, linebacker Kenny Onatolu signed a three-year contract with the Carolina Panthers. While not an every day, household name, Onatolu was to the Vikings what Corey Graham was for the Bears.
That being a player, who has plenty of talent, but is not worthy of starting. Instead, these Onatolu and Graham are two of the best special teams players on the planet.

I was browsing through this article over at Daily Norseman, trying to find something to write about for you nerds, when I finished (on your mom's face!) and left the posting feeling rather miffed. The article explains - through another at ESPN South's blog - that YOUR Minnesota Vikings are best in the league in retaining their draft picks since 2008. You read that right:...
