The Miami Dolphins took a nice step forward last week with their second straight road victory.  The Dolphins kept pace with the Patriots in what has been an interesting AFC East over the first 2 weeks.  There are no teams under .500 at this point in the season.  The AFC West and NFC West are the only other divisions in which this is the case.  By contrast, the AFC North and NFC East do not have a team over .500.  It’s early, but these early games can lead to big consequences later this season when tie breakers are in play. Photo Courtesy of Dolphins.com One thing that I took away from the Thursday night game between the Jets and the Pats is that the Pats might not be the offensive juggernaut that they have been in recent years.  Tom Brady’s receivers are just not reliable at this point.   Combine that, with the fact that the Dolphins just beat the Colts on the road and Dolphins fans have a reason to be excited.  The next 3 games against the Falcons, Saints, and Ravens will tell us a LOT about this Dolphins team. The Jets are not a long term concern because of their offense, but their defense looks pretty good, especially their front 7.  The Bills, meanwhile, might not be a playoff team, but they might get to 6 or 7 wins.  The division might be a little more bunched together than in years past when the Patriots run out and win the division by 3-4 games.  Here’s a look at the week that was and the week ahead in the AFC East: Patriots (2-0 overall, 2-0 division) The Patriots have played the Jets and Bills and beaten them both.  Although, they did not blow either team and out and were in danger of losing both games.  With injuries to Shane Vereen, Amendola, and Gronkowski, the Pats are seriously missing some playmakers.  Tom Brady was visibly upset on Thursday night against the Jets.  His young, inexperienced receivers dropped a number of passes and their offense just never seemed right.  This week, the Patriots welcome in the Tampa Bay Bucs, who are playing very undisciplined football right now.  A late game penalty cost them the season opener against the Jets and then last week they committed a ton of penalties against the Saints.  The Pats should have smooth sailing to a 3-0 start.    (continued on page 2, CLICK HERE)

Dolphins' Clay thriving as a starter at TE

Charles Clay waited until his third NFL season to take a handoff for the Miami Dolphins, and when the play was called, he knew exactly what to do. ''Just hold onto the ball,'' Clay thought to himself. Which he did, scoring a touchdown. But the Dolphins' offense hasn't always been that simple for the versatile Clay, who needed a couple of seasons to get comfortable...

30-Year Phiniversary: The Debut of Dan Marino

The day was September 19th. The year was 1983. The opponent was the Los Angeles Raiders and the scene was Monday Night Football. It was a day that would change the Miami Dolphins franchise forever and for the better. The Dolphins did not win that humid, September night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, but what they did witness was the debut of the greatest quarterback ever...

Miami Dolphins: 2013 Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#19)

Last week: 21 The Dolphins are 2-0 and could definitely be 3-0 in a week if they beat the banged up Falcons in Miami, but they’re more likely to be this year’s Arizona (4-0 in 2012) or Buffalo (3-0 in 2011) than a legitimate playoff contender. I don’t think they’re going to be as bad as either of those two teams ended up, but they’ve played a very easily schedule through...

Fan sends his friend to the hospital over argument involving the Jets and Dolphins

This past weekend, a Dolphins fan named Joshua Grayson ended up getting into a heat argument with his friend who is a Jets fan. His friend allegedly poked him in the forehead and said the Dolphins “lose all the time.” It sounds like Grayson then flipped out and slammed his buddy’s head into the driveway about 15 times,  which ended up landing him in the hospital. Grayson was...

Starks may default back to Dolphins' starter

BY SEAN DONOVANMiami Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks may find himself back in the starting lineup this Sunday when his team plays the Atlanta Falcons, but not necessarily because he's off his 'punishment.'He'll be there because fellow defensive lineman Paul Soliai is unlikely to play in Week 3 due to a knee injury suffered in the fourth quarter of last week...

Miami Dolphins: 4 Keys to a Win Over the Falcons

The Dolphins will do their best to stop the high powered passing attack of the Atlanta Falcons this weekend at Sun Life Stadium in south Florida. Since the Dolphins themselves seem to be one of the teams that are passing to set up the run, this could be a high scoring affair that could also shelve runners like Lamar Miller and Steven Jackson for most of the game. You could make an...

Falcons-Dolphins Preview

The undefeated Miami Dolphins are confident, yet cautious, knowing that sustaining their early success likely won't be easy over the next three games. Seeking their best start in more than a decade, the Dolphins face the banged-up Atlanta Falcons on Sunday in their home opener. Miami is looking to open 3-0 for the first time since 2002, and when it most recently started 2-0...

Fantasy waiver wire: Week 3

The fantasy football waiver wire continues to build up as each week becomes increasingly important. Winning now obviously saves you from headaches later and that can only occur by making key roster adjustments as the year moves onward. Everyone has a few, if not more, star players which isn’t much of an advantage. It’s the deeper rosters where everyone scores consistently that...

Mike Wallace, Darrelle Revis enjoy success in new places

Alex Smith is still winning in red. He's just doing it for the Chiefs these days. Wes Welker went from hauling in passes from Tom Brady in New England to doing the same from Peyton Manning...
