Gabbert Placed On IR, Henne Climbs Depth ChartBlaine Gabbert suffered an injury to his left shoulder against the Houston Texans. Early in the game he was sacked and went down hard. After losing the football and landing awkwardly on his shoulder, Gabbert’s season was turned upside down.Gabbert has been far from spectacular this season. Upon being injured however, one Chad Henne was. Henne took the field on short notice, against one of the league’s best. He kept a presumed blowout competitive. Not only were the Jaguars hanging with the Texans, they were leading them most of the day. The contest was decided in overtime after each team made a field goal. Houston would become the first team to ever score twice in OT.The question going forward: Can Henne keep it going?I think not.Henne and the Jaguar offense completed six plays of 20+ yards. A number of these plays were flukes. Sure, you can count on sir Cecil Shorts III to make some plays with the ball in his hands, but these insane numbers simply can’t continue.Henne achieved a 126.8 passer rating, but he only completed 48.5% of his passes (16/33.)This was a trap game for the Texans. It showed. The tackling was poor, and the defense was stagnant.Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans Jacksonville is now set to host Tennessee in the second half of a divisional double-header.Tennessee is coming off their bye. Two weeks ago they absolutely destroyed the Dolphins. The final score was 37-3, which might do justice to the game they played. The Titan defense created four turnovers, held the Dolphins to 54 yards rushing and obviously, allowed no trips to the Promised Land.Offensively, Chris Johnson rushed for a respectable 126 yards on 23 carries. Jake Locker completed 9 of his 21 pass attempts en route to a two-touchdown day. No interceptions. The Titans’ defense has hardly been so dominant over the course of the season, they allowed 104 points in three games prior to the defensive show in Miami. Not to mention the 339 yards they gave up to the Colts and Bears in consecutive weeks. They will have a chance to bounce back against a presumably hot Jaguar offense this week. Jacksonville scored 37 points in their week 11 shootout. They hadn’t scored 30 in any game this season. They scored 10 points two weeks ago against the less-than-dominant Indianapolis defense.Despite a huge game through the air, the Jaguars only produced 86 yards rushing. Without a ground game the Titans will have the upper hand.On the other hand, the Jaguars held Arian Foster to just 77 yards. On 28 carries. That’s a pretty impressive stat line for any defense hosting the great back that Foster is. Oh, they also kept him out of the end zone. A feat no other team has accomplished in 2012.This is a pair of hot teams, matching up in a game you won’t want to miss.Indianapolis Colts vs. Buffalo Bills Why Should I Care? The Colts were humiliated by the Patriots last Sunday. Many predicted that the Colts would be able to compete with the Patriots after an extended win streak in which Andrew Luck was playing like a seasoned vet. The defense had been strong in weeks prior, and they were not against New England. The Colts look to bounce back against a respectable Buffalo Bills team. They will be at home, where they’ve been successful in 2012.By The Numbers! The Colts created 448 yards of total offense despite a 59-24 humbling against the Patriots. The offense was productive, but ultimately done in by turnovers. Andrew Luck threw three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. The offense will have quite the opportunity to recover against Buffalo. The Bills have allowed a miserable 299 points on the season. That’s second-last in the league.Turnovers should not be a problem against a Bills’ defense that has created only 14 of those takeaways on the season. The Colts have only turned the ball over three times when playing at Lucas Oil Stadium. They’ve had more turnovers in three different road games. They like it at home. How about the Colts’ defense? They like it at home, too. They’ve allowed more than 22 points only once, and that was to the Green Bay Packers. Buffalo can score some points though. Carried by the dynamic duo of C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson, they have produced 24+ points in six games this year. Just two weeks ago they took New England within a minute of a divisional upset before losing by a score of 37-31.If you were too high on the Colts going into the Patriots game, don’t fret, they aren’t as bad as New England made them look. Andrew Luck was fooled early and often by the antics of the great Bill Belichick. The Colts will have an opportunity to get back on track for a playoff push this week, and I expect they will take advantage.
