So now that Victor Cruz is locked up with the New York Giants for another six seasons, what else is there to talk about now? Is it training camp yet?
Let’s look a little further and shift our attention to that other dynamic receiver in Hakeem Nicks. What does Cruz’s contract mean for Hakeem Nicks and his future? Does it have any bearing on how Nicks’ camp will leverage themselves against Jerry Reese and co. when it comes time to talk a new deal? Does Cruz’s deal set up an opening for Nicks to return long-term after 2013, or after 2014 if the Giants use the franchise tag on Nicks for 2013?
Rather than try to answer all those questions here in July of 2013, I believe Nicks’ situation will provide its own twist as we go forward.
Cruz embodies everything that is what the New York Giants are about – a blue collar work ethic where toughness must always persevere to reach the end goal of winnings championships. It was displayed from Cruz by his drive from coming into the le...

One of the most tenuous contract negotiations of the off-season finally came to an end Monday when the New York Giants signed wide receiver Victor Cruz to a 5-year extension worth $43 million. As long and drawn out as the talks were in the end it was Cruz that folded because he was tired of all the "back and forth."
Maybe after he listens to Jay-Z's new album his...
Wide receiver Victor Cruz and the New York Giants reportedly agreed to a five year, $43 million contract extension Monday. The deal, which is to be officially signed on Tuesday, will pay Cruz $15.6 million in guaranteed money.
Along with the $2.9 million Cruz was already guaranteed in 2013, a reported $9.5 million signing bonus brings the deal’s total value over $45 million.

As each day goes by, it looks like the Giants received quite a discount from Cruz.

Two weeks ago, New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz and his longtime girlfriend Elaina Watley were in Miami, attending the wedding of New York Knicks power forward Amar'e Stoudemire and Alexis Welch. The two couples hit it off during a GQ-hosted trip to Milan last offseason and have since become close friends. While in Miami, Cruz tried his best to block out any talk or...
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning told the New York Post how excited he is that Victor Cruz’s contract extension is finally over.
“It’s going to be nice to not have to answer any more questions about Victor and his contract status with the team,’’ Manning said Tuesday in an email response.
Manning is certainly glad everything was done prior to training camp.
Season 3, Episode 117 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I start of by talking about the new contract signed Monday by New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz as it relates to the one that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown signed last year in training camp. That discussion leads to us talking more about young receivers such as Cruz that are probably...
