The New York Jets are taking their lumps these days, and opposing teams are more than willing to pile on after laying the smack down on Rex Ryan's boisterous bunch.
The latest player to come after the Jets is Dolphins running back Reggie Bush, whose team throttled the Jets in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon, cruising to an easy 30-9 victory at MetLife Stadium.
Bush and the Jets traded verbal barbs throughout the week, and, according to a Newsday report, Bush was able to revel in the smackdown on Sunday afternoon.
"It's very satisfying," Bush told Newsday. "It's as good as it gets. We knew we wanted to jump on them early, and I think we were able to accomplish that. I think once we got them early, they kind of laid down a little bit."
The issues started after the Dolphins' 23-20 loss to the Jets earlier this season, when the veteran running back commented on Darrelle Revis' season-ending injury, saying "what goes around, comes around."
Ryan called on Bush to apologize for those comments earlier in the week. On the other end of the spectrum, LaRon Landry and Aaron Maybin all but threatened to attempt to injure Bush. On Sunday, Antonio Cromartie even head-butted Bush, resulting in a 15-yard penalty.
In the end, Bush and the Dolphins got the resounding last word.
This isn't the first time the Jets' desire and commitment has been challenged, either. San Francisco 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers accused the Jets of quitting after the Niners' 34-0 blowout of the Jets earlier this month.
"Yeah, you could see it happening," Rogers told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Oct. 3. "It kind of shocked me because a lot of guys on [our] sideline were saying, 'They don't want to tackle, they don't want to do this, they don't want to do that.' "
He continued: "That's a Rex Ryan defense. That's a Rex Ryan team. ... And his defense, you know, plays throughout. That was the shocking point about it."
The Jets are now in last place in the AFC East with a 3-5 record.

Miami Dolphins contender or pretender?
It has been four years since the Miami Dolphins have been interesting. Hats off to rookie head coach Joe Philbin and rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill for having such a positive impact on an organization that many didn’t want anything to do with. They even needed Chad Johnson and Lauren Tannehill just to make HBO’s Hard Knocks relevant.
Regardless, the Dolphins are in the playoff...
Antoinio Cromartie Calls Reggie Bush a “Punk”

Well, the Jets got dominated by the Dolphins Sunday, but that didn’t stop Cromartie from getting a personal foul called...

Reggie Bush gets last word after Cromartie calls him a 'punk'
Hurricane Sandy wasn't the only blast of wind swirling around in New Jersey this weekend. While New York Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie was basically a lot less blustery than his teammates, who talked trash all week leading up to the game against the Miami Dolphins, it was Cromartie who created a post-game storm by calling Reggie Bush a "punk."

Antonio Cromartie: Reggie Bush is a punk
Unfortunately for us, the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets are not likely to play each other again until next season. Over the past week or so the trash talk the two teams have traded has turned into a complete sideshow. That continued after Miami’s dominating 30-9 win on Sunday when Antonio Cromartie had some choice words for Reggie Bush.
Bush broke a 19-yard run in the first...
Jets loss forces Rex Ryan to make a decision
The Jets and Rex Ryan reached a major point of importance today in their loss to the Miami Dolphins. With a record of just 3-5, the Jets can lose one or two more games at the most and still make the playoffs.
Their are two people on extremely hot seats right now. The first is head coach Rex Ryan. Without a playoff birth, it seems unlikely the Jets will retain him as their head...
