New coaching candidates were uncovered over the weekend and Pewter Report did an outstanding job reporting on all of them and covering all the angles. None of these names are particularly exciting, but by God they’re old and that’s a start.
Wade Phillips: All Wade Phillips has done is come into Houston and turn their defense into the #2 defense in the league. Phillips has been in Houston one season, and it just so happens that it’s the first time they’ve ever been to the playoffs. And they won a game. Phillips has always had the reputation of being able to turn defenses around, but this season has him looking like a miracle worker.
Phillips keeps getting fired from his head coaching jobs, but the man has a 82-59 record as a head coach, and that’s not too bad. He was just 11-5 two years ago with the Cowboys.
