San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith allegedly was so drunk he crashed into a tree, so drunk he was pressing the accelerator long after impact apparently unaware of said tree, so drunk he reportedly blew a .15 at 7 a.m. on a Friday.
And this was not enough to keep him from playing football Sunday because - wait for this - "sitting somebody down and paying them to sit...
The San Francisco 49ers lost twice today. One was the game against the Indianapolis Colts. Two, which is more significant, was the way they dealt with the indefinite suspension of their linebacker Aldon Smith. First and foremost I am hoping that Aldon gets the treatment he needs and is able to get his life back together. He is dealing with substance abuse and needs to focus on getting...
Aldon might as well have started rehab yesterday and avoided the butt whupping that the Colts put on the 49ers. It didn’t take long for either Aldon or the 49ers to get all of his stuff out of the locker room.

Linebacker Aldon Smith will miss Thursday night's game at St. Louis and perhaps sit out longer, San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York said Sunday.
Smith will seek treatment following his arrest Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana possession. After Sunday's loss to the Colts, Smith apologized and acknowledged he will get help, but didn't field...
There were some that were surprised that San Francisco 49ers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh played linebacker Aldon Smith after his 7AM arrest recently for driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.
Well, they will not have to wonder about it anymore.
There was talk that there may have been some concern over how to proceed with the situation...
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Smith has been put on the Non-Football injury list and will likely miss one month of the season while he is in rehab.
Hopefully, Smith gets the help he needs and this isn’t just window dressing by him and the 49ers.
They tried to make Aldon Smith go to rehab and he said…quite possibly. It looks like he might just do that. On the Fox NFL pregame show Jay Glazer reported that the San Francisco 49ers Aldon Smith could enter rehab this week after being arrested on suspicion of DUI early Friday morning:
“Those close to Aldon Smith are talking to him about entering a rehab facility as early as...
Owner Jed York spoke to the media today after the loss to the Colts. The main topic of discussion was Aldon Smith. Jed York told the media that Aldon Smith will not play Thursday against the St. Louis Rams and that Aldon was suspended indefinitely.

If you were 49ers CEO Jed York, what would you have done...???
Would you have played troubled DL Aldon Smith after his run-in with the law early Friday morning knowing you were going to have him seek help, or would you have had him seek help immediately...???
The 49ers played him on Sunday against the Colts, and the HQ isn't sure, but...
According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the 49ers are working to linebacker Aldon Smith to get him help for his problem with drugs and alcohol. The hope is to get him into rehab soon.
49ers are working with Aldon on this totally independent of league punishment. There is genuine concern. It’s up to Aldon to decide this week if he goes or not.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter is a great reporter, but terrible at catching passes. He fell hard while trying to catch a pass on Sunday.
According to the NFL and NFL Players Association, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith will be an active player this Sunday against the Colts, but needs treatment for his substance-abuse problems following the game.
On ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Cris Carter and Keyshawn Johnson engaged in a one-handed catch contest, with Tom Jackson shooting footballs out of the machine. From what I could see, Cris Carter still has some skills, while Keyshawn looked very rusty. The most entertaining part of the video was when Adam Schefter came out in receiver gloves and protective glasses to participate...
