Coach Jim Harbaugh’s faith in 27-year old QB Alex Smith has paid off in spades.  Smith is playing, by far, the best football of his NFL career so far this year.  He has played in 13 games for the 49ers this year and he has completed 221 of 358 passes (61.7%) for 2,565 yards with 15 TD passes and 5 INTs (91.5 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 39 times for 141 yards (3.6 ypc) with 1 TD run so far this year.  The 49ers need Alex Smith to keep playing well if they are going to make a legit Super Bowl run this season.

The San Francisco 49ers will not contend for the NFC Title this season

There is no doubt that the San Francisco 49ers have made incredible strides this season, with new Coach Jim Harbaugh taking the reigns behind a lowly team and their bust QB Alex Smith and making them into perennial winners. Not only has Smith resurfaced as a solid option, but the defense has been nothing short of phenomenal. In the future, the 49ers could certainly contend, but as...

Handicapping The Battle For NFL Coach Of The Year

Last night we kicked off week 15, with the Falcons (led by 2008 AP Coach of the year Mike Smith) kicking some serious Jaguar butts. I started to think which coach deserves the same accolades this year. This has been one of the more competitive years in terms of the battle for coach of the year. There are many names that come to mind right away when thinking of worthy candidates...

Kubiak, Harbaugh top coaches this NFL season

The NFL coach of the year race, unimportant as it may be, seems to have come down to two good, very different men. It is Jim Harbaugh and his muscle-bound jaw and violent handshakes and hair-on-fire charisma vs. Gary Kubiak and his chemistry professor cadence and wrinkled brow and apparent disinterest in any kind of fame whatsoever. Both men are 10-3 and clinched weak divisions...

SANTA CLARA – The 49ers are taking extra time this week to solve their most vexing mystery of the season: The case of the missing touchdowns. 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh: Three sessions on red zone offense, up from two.

Ravens' John Harbaugh could share tips on Steelers

Nearly a month after beating his little brother, Ravens coach John Harbaugh is joining forces. On Wednesday, Harbaugh said he'd be sharing Steelers-related information with 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh before San Francisco...
