Alex Smith’s career is a lot like that of Kiefer Sutherland’s, better known as Jack Bauer from “24,” the greatest TV show ever. It’s a very obscure comparison, I know, but let me explain. Both endured some early career struggles and could not catch a break, whether it was not getting lead roles in memorable movies/shows for Sutherland or playing for four different head coaches in his seven seasons with the San Francisco 49ers for Smith. Finally, Sutherland landed the perfect role for him, Bauer on the aforementioned “24,” which he owned for ten years. And now, Smith has found his Jack Bauer role where he will have full freedom to excel without having to look over his shoulder.
