It’s become more than apparent that the San Francisco 49ers intend to move forward with Colin Kaepernick as their starting quarterback, which means that Alex Smith‘s time with the franchise is likely coming to an end in the next few months. There are a number of teams in need of help at the quarterback position and Smith has been tossed out as a potential option for teams like the Jets, Chiefs and Cardinals. Interestingly enough, Cardinals OL Adam Snyder told the San Francisco Chronicle that he would be in favor of team bringing in Smith next season. “If someone asked me about him, I would tell them exactly what I thought,” said Snyder. “I think the guy’s got unbelievable character and I think he’s a leader. Obviously, we came in together, so I’ve got a special place for him. Obviously, that’s something the personnel guys have to do. … And if they have any questions about him, they can come and ask me.” Snyder previously spent time with Smith in San Francisco, so he’s more than aware of what he can do. Arizona’s quarterback situation is terrible to say the least, but before they could even consider someone like Smith, the 49ers would have to decide whether or not to make him available. Smith, 28, has a $7.5 million base salary for next season, along with a $1 million roster bonus due in March. San Francisco would have to be willing to trade him within the division, which isn’t exactly the most common move for organizations to make given that they’ll see him twice a year. The market for quarterbacks will certainly be interesting this year, but not because of the depth in relation to the position. Teams in need of quarterback can’t say for certain that any available option will be able to step in and produce from day one, so it will really come down to their ability to identify the best fit for their organization.   The post Alex Smith Playing For Arizona Next Season? appeared first on NFL Trade Rumors.
