You might remember that Doug Flutie spent four seasons as the QB of the San Diego Chargers. Those weren’t exactly memorable years for Doug as he went 8-14 and had his final NFL start in 2004. Flash-forward eight years and another Flutie is hoping to erase the bad memories in southern California. Alexa Flutie (attended La Jolla High) is returning to her one-time home where she participated over the weekend to become a Chargers Girl.

Yep, left the Patriots cheerleading unity for a shot at stardom with the Chargers Girls. In the NFL cheerleading food chain it’s (1.) Dallas (2.) San Diego (3.) Miami (4.) Jets Flight Crew (5.) Saintsations. You’d have to drop into the teens before anyone notices the Patriots cheerleaders. They’re like the Tennessee Titans as far as recognition goes. Middle of the road. Not going to build a dancing career off the Patriots on the resume.

Hence the scenery change.

However, Alexa isn’t really making a big deal about the news. She told one Twitter user over the weekend:

@DannyDFurman See… I moved to pursue BIGGER professional dancing opportunities.

Still efforting if she made the first cut. Would the Chargers really cut Doug Flutie’s daughter after all he gave to the organization? Those four seasons. 8-14 career record? The 3-0 start to the 2001 season after coming off a 1-15 season the year before?
