Alfonzo Dennard had just one more Colts player to beat on the way to his first career touchdown in the NFL — the quarterback. The only problem is that quarterback just so happened to be Andrew Luck. Luck tracked Dennard down during his 87-yard interception return, trying to cut off the speedy cornerback along the sideline before reaching the end zone. Luck’s athleticism and speed had Dennard worried. So worried, in fact, that the rookie corner was watching himself on the Jumbotron to keep an eye on Luck’s whereabouts. “Yeah I was,” Dennard said, laughing that he felt the need to look up at the video screen. “Because I know Andrew Luck, he’s a pretty fast quarterback, so I had to look at the Jumbotron to see if he was behind me.” Dennard, who intercepted his third pass of the season on Sunday, definitely didn’t want to miss out on the first touchdown of his young NFL life. But even more so, he didn’t want to face the ridicule of his teammates if a quarterback, even as athletic as Luc...

The 4 NFL Story Lines That Matter In The 2nd Half Of The Season

By Alex Wong / @steven_lebron You know that the NFL season is headed into the home stretch when you start to check the playoff standings and analyze all the tie breakers that go into deciding the wild card or even division title spots. We’re here now. For the first time this season, I clicked on [...]The post The 4 NFL Story Lines That Matter In The 2nd Half Of The Season appeared...

Pats Luck-y In Win, Unlucky With Gronk

I really need to know. Just what is an “acceptable” win for the New England Patriots? When they win a nail-biter, the cry is that they cannot “close out” teams, they lack “killer instinct” and they don’t “step on the throat” of opposing teams when they have them down. On the other hand, in games like yesterday’s 59-24 rout of the Indianapolis Colts, the cry turns...

Colts' momentum stopped cold by Patriots

It wasn't pretty and the Indianapolis Colts know it. Now all they can do is try to bounce back after an embarrassing 59-24 loss at New England on Sunday. The Colts had four turnovers, and two of Andrew Luck's three interceptions were returned for touchdowns. Interim coach Bruce Arians said the mistakes the rookie quarterback made were just technical errors. ''Both...

PREVIEW: Patriots - Colts

Can Andrew Luck carry the day for the Colts vs the Patriots? Stranger things have happened to a New England defense that has had issues stopping the pass.

Andrew Luck gets first taste of Indianapolis Colts-New England Patriots rivalry

The Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots have shared what arguably has been the best rivalry in American professional sports for much of the previous decade. Who can forget New England’s triumphs against Peyton Manning in the snow in Foxborough, Mass. during both the 2003 and 2004 playoffs? Or the epic Colts comeback in the 2006 AFC Championship game en route to Super...

Andrew Luck Continues to Impress in Losing Effort, Showcasing Better Rookie Development Than Peyton Manning

Andrew Luck is not Tom Brady, Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers — yet. But after Sunday’s shellacking at the hands of the New England Patriots, Luck still has plenty of room left to grow and develop. While his numbers have brought comparisons to all the aforementioned quarterbacks, he is still nowhere near the same caliber of player that each of those developed NFL stars is today....

Week 11 Risers and Fallers: Pats Down Luck in Blowout Win, Lose Gronk in Process

After enduring most of the first half of the season without tight end Aaron Hernandez, the Patriots lost the other half of the Boston TE Party for the forseeable future in their 59-24 blowout win over Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts.  Rob Gronkowski torched the Colts for seven receptions for 137 yards and a pair of touchdowns, but broke his forearm on the team's final...

Patriots Crush Colts, 59-24: Five Things We Learned

This was not supposed to go this way. This was to be a clash of ideologies, styles and mindsets. It was supposed to be a battle royal, two men enter one man leaves sort of thing. It was supposed to be competitive. It was for about 15 minutes.Yesterday, you thought you knew that Andrew Luck had a seat at the table. You thought you knew that the Pats D was ready to be dominated. You...

Brady, Patriots teach Luck, Colts a lesson; Win 59-24

The New England Patriots took a key game in the AFC play-off picture by dismantling the Indianapolis Colts 59-24. Tom Brady (24/35, 331 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT), Rob Gronkowski (7 receptions, 137 yards, 2 TD) and Julian Edelman (5 receptions, 57 yards 1 TD/1 rush, 47 yards/68 yard punt ret. TD) starred on the offensive side of the ball, while Alfonzo Dennard and Aqib Talib (on...

Indianapolis Colts week 11 preview: New England

The Indianapolis Colts meet the New England Patriots today in a match-up that is far more relevant than anyone thought when the season began. Both teams stand at 6-3. That’s a good thing for the Colts, a team that many thought would struggle to win one or to games. It may not be that great of a thing for the Patriots, who struggled early on in the season, but have recently ratcheted...

Battle of the (6-3) Indianapolis Colts vs New England Patriots

I’ve been licking my chops about this one all week, since the Colts dismantled the Jaguars 9 days ago on prime time. They will be in tough as they face the AFC powerhouse Patriots. In a rivalry that used to feature the two best quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, we now have a battle between rookie quarterback sensation Andrew Luck facing off against Brady. In the Bill Belichick...

Patriots 59, Colts 24

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, two old rivals, met Sunday for the first time since Peyton Manning moved on to Denver. Star rookie Andrew Luck is now the Indianapolis quarterback, and he showed some of the special stuff he possesses, but New England pulled away and beat the Colts 59-24 in a wild one. The Patriots tied the franchise record...
