(Eds: APNewsNow. With AP Photos.) By DAVE CAMPBELL AP Pro Football Writer Jared Allen and the Minnesota Vikings had Andrew Luck on the run, forcing the Indianapolis rookie out of bounds to bring up fourth down in the third quarter with the Colts leading by 11 points. This was an important moment, with the Vikings in need of a momentum shift. The punt never came because Allen was penalized for a late hit after tackling Luck on the sideline. The Colts kicked a field goal on that drive and eventually won 23-20. On Sunday, Allen blamed a bad call by the official. By Wednesday, Allen came closer to acknowledging the mistake, which appeared to be a clear foul on television replays. But the sequence was another example of the challenge for pass rushers in this era of protected quarterbacks.

Vikings' Allen laments lack of sacks

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. The way Jared Allen sees things, he believes he should have about three sacks already this season while facing young quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Andrew Luck through the season's first two weeks.Allen, who led the NFL last season with 22 sacks, is still without one and is left to wonder about the occasions in which he had quarterbacks in his grasp. Allen...

Following a Legend: Andrew Luck Week 2 vs. Minnesota Vikings

In his second outing things went much smoother for Andrew Luck in his home debut. He was more accurate, decisive, and it is not certain how much of this can be explained by playing the Minnesota Vikings instead of the Chicago Bears.  Regardless, Luck showed everything that made him the No. 1 pick in the draft. After a near-flawless first half by Luck, the Colts blew their 20-6...

Fan converts Manning jersey into Luck jersey

I understand the economy is rough, but converting an old Peyton Manning Colts jersey into an Andrew Luck jersey isn’t a very good luck, as you see from the picture above. It would have been better to just wear the Manning jersey and not alter it, or buy a Luck jersey. Who converts a Manning jersey to a Luck jersey? #ThisRedneck @nflrt twitter.com/AndrewLucksHea… — Andrew...

Fleener excelling as Luck’s safety net

The Indianapolis Colts drafted Coby Fleener, at least in part, due to his connection to Andrew Luck. And so far, the strategy has worked. Fleener has developed into Luck’s safety net – when all else fails, Luck checks down to Fleener. According to Pro Football Focus, Luck has attempted 33 passes between 0 and 9 yards down the field. Of those 33, eight have been targeted at Fleener...

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts NFL Week 3 Preview

http://theffmvp.com/?p=833 While many are already questioning the choice of Andrew Luck over Robert Griffin III, the Colts first pick overall looks to be doing just fine through two regular season games. Luck has attempted 76 passes and has completed 43 of them for 533 yards and 3 TD (3 INT). Somebody has to give this guy a break because the talent around him is absolutely pathetic...

Hype and Expectations for young Colts team entering key week 3 match-up

2012 has been quite the roller coaster of hype and expectations for the Indianapolis Colts. Following an off-season that saw a great number of their most prominent veteran players released and a free agency period in which the Colts remained relatively quiet, many analysts had pegged the Colts as one of the worst teams in the league, and a strong candidate to draft #1 overall in...

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts: Week 3 NFL Pick

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) at Minnesota Vikings (1-1) Before the season, I identified 5 overrated and 5 underrated teams, with the idea of betting on them (or against them) until they proved me wrong or the odds makers caught up. This served me well as I’m 10-4 this year on games involving those 10 teams (and one of those losses is because I abandoned shipped on the Bills after...
