Analyst Wants the New York Giants to Make Big 2024 NFL Draft Gamble
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants have taken multiple steps to improve the quality of their quarterback play. One of the most recent actions they took was to trade for Drew Lock in the hopes that he would provide competition for Daniel Jones and possibly get him back into shape.

However, there are some voices among Giants circles that are still unsatisfied with the quality of QBs available for Brian Daboll. They’re arguing that the team could do better if they decide to take a risk in the upcoming NFL Draft.

One analyst proposed a move that, while daring, would immediately bag them the QB that they’ve always wanted.

New York Giants should trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft to get their QB of the future

Art Stapleton of USA Today made a wild suggestion that will make New York Giants fans that are dissatisfied with the current QB room beg the team to do:

It’s clear from the post that Stapleton doesn’t feel like the current crop of Giants QBs is going to be enough to help the team win.

Why should the Giants look elsewhere?

It’s understandable if you look at their stats: Daniel Jones was horrible last season with 909 passing yards, two touchdowns, and six interceptions in six games. He was eventually shut down because was playing too horribly under center.

Lock’s numbers look a little better than Danny Dimes at 543 passing yards, 3 TDs, and 3 INTs in four games. However, these numbers don’t particularly scream starter material.

Meanwhile, they can get either Drake Maye, Jayden Williams, Bo Nix, Michael Penix Jr., or JJ McCarthy if they decide to trade up. While not every QB pans out in the NFL, the high ceiling these players showcase makes them worth a swing for New York’s NFC East team.

Whether Joe Schoen actually pulls off this trade is a whole different conversation, though.
